Our final midweek game comes with a well deserved point. The opposition Hartlepool st Francis came to the cow patch with high hopes of continuing their good form, however a resilient Heighington put a stop to that.

Heighington going 1-0 down through a poor mistake in the middle of the park got the opposition ahead. We dig deep and with a tweak in formation we started to see some joy. Hard work all over the pitch and with limited subs the lads knew they needed to dig deep.

Second half was soon upon us and the goal was coming, with Matty in net proving to be unbeatable and giving the lads a boost saw Sean move from CB to CAM and lead to a lovely assist with a clinical finish from the machine Joe Joyce 1-1 with 7 minutes to go we put more pressure on but it just wasn’t meant to be our night and we took a valuable point.

MOM was Matty Wheeler an outstanding performance in goal. Up next we welcome South Tyneside again at home as we look to put right the 3-1 defeat last time. Game 5th October so a nice little rest before we go again.

Back at it at home again, this time sees us playing top of the league. A good start in the glorious sunshine Brandon not enjoying the cow patch and its bobbles.

A tough first half sees us down 2-0 against a tidy side but that didn’t stop us, some key words at half time on what we could do better give us a boost.

A quick goal after the half saw us 3-0 down but we don’t give up that easy with a great work ball from Jack through to Liam 3-1 back in the game. Shortly followed from a John Graham long through right onto Sean’s perfectly sculpted head 3-2 and Brandon are flapping.

Last 22 minutes saw some chances missed but tired legs struck and it wasn’t our day 4-2 game over but another resilient performance from the Heighington lads. We go again Wednesday night so rest up get the ice baths in and let’s have another performance to get us some more points on the board.

Tees FC Reserves 2 Heighington 7

After a good three points midweek, we made the trip over to Middlesbrough to take on somewhat familiar opponents having played their first team a couple seasons ago in the North Riding.

We absolutely rocketed in to the lead going 3-0 up early doors, and speaking of rockets, David Parker doing his best to throw his name in for goal of the season with a rifled shot in to the top stanch.

Liam Whittaker carrying on his cracking start to the season with another four goals today, keep it up young man. 👏🏻

Further goals from Butts and mr inevitable himself Nathan Smith put us 7-0 to the good. Nathan missed out the majority of pre-season and the first couple weeks of the season with injury, so it’s cracking to see him back and firing. 🤌🏻

Credit to the Tees lads as they never gave up and kept going to the final whistle and scored two to ruin our clean sheet the rapscallions.

DOTD, Tom Fisk, last week we said he’d fall in to a barrel of t**s and come out sucking his thumb, this week he couldn’t pass wind without sharting himself.

On to midweek back down the cow patch against Durham County Colts, shaping up to be a tough game as they have only lost once to top of the league Brandon.

Quick summary of our recent results:

Heighington 1 South Tyneside 3

Absolutely bloody honking, ran off the park by a young side who battled for everything and massively deserved the three points. Highlight of the game, John Howard scoring the best own goal the cow patch has ever seen. 🐄

East Durham Reds FC 1 Heighington 7

Big response from the midweek horror show from Lou Whensley’s village idiots. Few new signings on show, young Jack Trowles getting his first minutes for the team. Matty Welsh scoring on his debut with a cracking finish from outside the area. And how can we forget about the return of the tack. Tyler Kilburn back amongst it and a real quality signing for the team. Special mention to Tom Lambert, couldn’t string a pass together, or a first touch but my god did he release an absolute rocket, leading goal of the season already. 🚀

Heighington 2 Gateshead Fell 1

Last nights fixture saw us host a well organised Gateshead team in the league down an eclipsed covered cow patch. We opened the scoring through David Parker, Tom Fisk claiming the pre-assist (utter woke nonsense) Josh Gibson with a little flick to Parker who slots it away calmly in to the bottom corner in his new bright white boots.

Gateshead then equalised after a clever free kick caught us napping. We should’ve been 2-1 to the good, but Davey Parker and them new bright white boots had other ideas. 1v1 through on goal, must’ve felt bad and decided to kick it at the keepers chest. 🫏

In to the second half and not much happened really, odd chance here and there for both teams, game look destined for a draw until a moment of controversy in the final two minutes. Josh Gibson with some great work dinking it over two defenders and releasing an effort towards goal, from here not to sure what happened, some say the ball crossed the line before their defender tried to clear it and some say it didn’t. Ref gives it, limbs down the cow patch, three points and Gateshead Fell to defeat (sorry had to do that, it was right there). We move on to Saturday away at Tees FC Reserves.

Heighington 4 Chester Le Street FC 1

With a decent pre-season under our belt lead by the new Lou Whensley regime, his bunch of bandits geared up for their first league game of the season down the cow patch.

With unfamiliar opponents in Chester Le Street, the village idiots weren’t too sure what to expect but stormed to a well deserved 4-1 win.

A cracking start to the game as we got ourselves in front through Liam Whittaker, right place at the right time to prod home to give us the lead.

We were soon pegged back, by a goal what assistant manager James Alderson eloquently called ‘sh*te’. 1-1 at half time.

An inspired team talk by the gaffer at half time got the lads all riled up and in typical manager fashion, he said it definitely changed the game.

Second half we came out looking to stamp our authority on the game and did just that. Goals from Tom Lambert and Butler, Lee Grey playing in to his fifth year of retirement and Owen Saunders aka Kes to wrap up the three points.

MOTM goes to Lee Grey, the old man is mustard to be honest, hasn’t lost a step even though he’s basically a grandad.

Dick of the day, @⁨~Fisk Services Ltd⁩, the lad could fall in to a barrel of t**s and come out sucking his thumb. Cow in the next field over was in more danger of being hit than the back of the net.

All the best to Chester Le Street for the season, see yous again down the line and thank you for a cracking turn out down the boozer after the game. 👏🏻

Midweek we are back down the cow patch with a game against South Tyneside, 6:45pm KO.

Match report

The lads got off to a poor start going 2-0 in the first half getting ran around by a good start from kader fc which was left to a very frustrating half time team talk by the manager. After some tactical changes in formation the second half heighington were a completely different team. An early goal at the start of the second half came from Will whipping a ball into the box and Nathan smith tapped it in to make it 2-1. Shortly after a second came from an absolute worldie of a volley from a cleared header outside the box found the right boot of Louis Whensley who smashed it in for 2-2🚀. The lads finally got comfortable and played like a proper team which led to a great header from CB Lee who rises highest and heads home leaving the keeper no chance 3-2! After some play from down the right hand side from kader they were dispossessed which led to a long ball over the top which Substitute Milo got on the end of and smashed home another great finish to make it 4-2. With heighington running the show Nathan smith picked the ball up in midfielder and sent an absolute rocket into the top corner from far out leaving the keeper no chance ☄️. To finish off a comfortable second half for heighington a ball over the right hand side found Owen who hits home for the final goal. Some individual performances today were unreal coming from the likes of Callum and Luke Catchpole with a filthy nutmeg sending them left right and centre. Good game kader and onto the next we go.
