With high temperatures forecast for this weekend’s tournament, we’d like to remind all coaches, team officials and parents to help keep our young players safe throughout the day.
Player welfare comes first. If in doubt, stop. No match is more important than a child’s health and wellbeing.
Please help by:
● Ensuring players arrive well hydrated and bring plenty of water.
● Encouraging regular drinks before, between and during matches.
● Making use of shaded areas whenever possible.
● Applying sunscreen before arrival and reapplying throughout the day as needed.
● Dressing players in lightweight clothing when not playing.
Know the signs of heat exhaustion
Look out for:
● Dizziness or headaches
● Excessive sweating
● Feeling sick
● Muscle cramps
● Pale, clammy skin
● Unusual tiredness
If a player feels unwell, they should stop playing immediately, move into the shade, drink water and be monitored closely.
Tournament organisers will monitor conditions throughout the day and, where necessary, introduce additional water breaks, adjust schedules or pause play to ensure everyone’s safety.
Thank you for helping us make sure all players can enjoy a safe and enjoyable tournament.
