At 360 Exercise Science and Fitness, My intention is to develop a well-rounded and holistic approach to fitness that uses science to inform and guide us all along the way.
So fitness enthusiasts !!
Today, let's dive into the foundations of cardiovascular endurance and strength training, because to us, fitness is an all-encompassing journey! 👟🏋️♂️
So today after returning recently to training after a 2 month break ...
Firstly I hopped on the rowing machine and powered through an invigorating cardio session. 10 x 500 m sprints with 60s rest inbetween .. Rowing not only gets your heart pumping but engages your entire body, making it a fantastic way to improve cardiovascular fitness and boost overall strength. 🚣♂️💨
It also served as a specific warm up for a deadlift focused strength session
Next up, I embraced the raw power of deadlifts. There's something uniquely liberating about challenging your limits and lifting heavy weights off the ground. And deadlifts target multiple muscle groups, enhancing your strength, and helping you build a solid foundation for other lifting exercises. 🏋️♂️💥
And as I wanted to know my 1 rep max to see how "STRONG" I was, BUT could not risk injuring my shoulder with maximal effort, it was time for a bit of exercise science 💪 ..
Simply put !! I worked to failure at bodyweight 80kg and used the rep count to calculate my 1 rep max !! Which is a strength value I can use post training plan to see any progress and compare to national averages from within my population group for specifics like gender age etc,
But age is just a number, fitness enthusiasts!
At 52, I'm striving to be proof that dedication and consistent training along with a scientific approach can lead to remarkable results and lifelong transformations.
