DAVE MORRIS 💪
11th!! Fantastic achievement even if not quite what Dave was hoping for. Sometimes/most of the time this is how competition goes.
Getting out there and competing is important and as cliche as it is, you always learn a lot when it doesn’t go well! I have no doubt that Dave will build on this and go (literally) from strength to strength. Nice one Dave!
The event in his own words;
‘Great to be back competing again! Result not what i was hoping for but Hampshire’s Strongest put on a great event, even in the shocking weather!
11th place out of a very strong 17 lads, couple of small mistakes but happy overall with the placing.
1. Axle overhead - failed the 100kg twice then dropped down for a triple on the 85kg. Not overly happy with this
2. Axle deficit deadlift - 9 reps on 195kg, more than had planned so really happy with this one.
3. Shield hold - this was originally a carry but changed to a hold due to weather and weight increased, 56 seconds with the 150kg shield, hadnt trained for a hold and the weight was way more than i had used in training, so very happy here.
4. Duck walk / power stairs - 2 x 125kg handles and made pretty good time, could have gone a bit quicker if i didnt make a couple mistakes, but happy with the time on this one.
5. Sandball bags / tackyless stones - 100kg sandball bag moved really well, 100kg stone without any tacky just didnt want to move, couldnt get any grip on it, disapointed with this one but just couldnt get it done.
Couple of things i could have improved and placed higher but overall happy with how the day went!
Thankful for all the family who supported me on the day, to Ben and the Hampshires Strongest team for a great comp, to my incredible coach Brian who puts up with my hissy fits, and all the gang from Gover Gym for supporting my training!’
