A word about kindness… Getting out in nature and on my bike, riding through the country has shown me one thing in particular. Despite all the fear mongering we are faced with on a daily basis, being out amongst humanity has proved to me beyond any doubts, that kindness, love and friendship far outweigh the negativity we are so relentlessly encouraged to believe. I encountered more kindness and friendship than I would ever have imagined! Keep the faith folks! This world of ours is a beautiful place! Peace and blessings.

Why I did my bikepacking adventure! Well folks, now I’m back in Sussex I thought it was time to explain the motivation behind my hare brained adventure across England and Wales on a heavy bike with no gears at all. This was a long time in the coming and I believe marks a significant shift in my life. I hope you enjoy it.

Finally arriving at St David’s Cathedral in Pembrokeshire, in gorgeous weather but already casting a doubtful eye on what looks like heavy, rapidly moving sea mist at my next destination, Whitesands bay… at this point, taking into consideration the wrong turns, mountains etc, I’ve cycled over 400 miles. Reaching the cathedral gave me an opportunity for reflection and prayer even. During what has been one of the most challenging times in my life. I’d like to acknowledge the importance of recognising PTSD, childhood trauma, depression and anxiety often swept under the carpet where men like myself are concerned. Especially by ourselves due to generations of “stiff upper lip” mentality and expectation to carry on as normal. In this time of rapidly increasing crisis of meaning and identity. I personally want to find ways to help others like myself, through reconnecting with nature, thereby bringing reconnection to ourselves and each other.

A chilly but beautiful dawn on the Preseli hills, home and origin to Stonehenge’s “blue stones”. A truly magical and rather legendary scenery here. Quite a privilege to be sleeping here, even if it’s cold and very damp. Also very exciting 😃

Well here I am at the Preseli hills at last… day eight is it?! I don’t even know what day it is. Tired day!! No it’s day nine I think. So far I have cycled and pushed 320 miles. Tomorrow is likely to be the last leg of the pilgrimage, arriving at St David’s cathedral. Fingers crossed. Now I’m getting off this phone and making dinner before bed. Vi ses senare!! 💚💚

One mile away from the Severn Bridge 🙌🏼🙌🏼😎😎 after a long ride and much foraging, meeting so many fantastic folks. Huge shout out to Big Jugs! A very kind and welcoming bargeman and juggler who has been my companion for the evening. Also big appreciation for and for their kind advice on maintenance.

After a much needed break, time to go! Heading west from the many delights of Honey Street, in the Pewsey vale, Wiltshire. Such a warm welcome from the and the Crop Circle Centre, also in Honeystreet. So worth a visit, to see the incredible examples of crop circles over the years. Another warm welcome and doubtless some great conversations! But now I turn my bike west and head towards Bristol.

Found the place to lay my head for the night! Definitely the place to be if you like crop circles and lots of really lovely, welcoming folks here so I would massively recommend for a visit and to check out some of Wiltshire’s finest views.
