🥊 The Breakaway Project is back this summer!

Join us for a series of FREE Summer Youth Sessions taking place across Amber Valley over the coming weeks.

If you're under 18, come along for an afternoon of boxing, sports, games and the chance to meet new people. There's no need to book – just turn up, get involved and have some fun!

🕒 Every Friday, 3pm – 5pm

📍 7 August – Crossley Park, Ripley
📍 14 August – Somercotes Skatepark
📍 21 August – Lockton Skatepark, Heanor
📍 28 August – Crossley Park, Ripley
📍 4 September – Manor Recreation Ground, Belper

We're proud to support the Breakaway Project alongside The Lions Den Boxing Club, Supporting Communities and Heanor and Langley Mill Police SNT, helping to provide free activities for young people across the borough this summer.

🥊 Following the success of the Breakaway boxing Project in Heanor, which has had a positive impact on diverting young people away from antisocial behaviour (ASB) and crime while improving mental wellbeing, we’re pleased to share some great news.
Gym owner Sam Goodrum and PCSO James Colledge have secured funding from Amber Valley Borough Council to expand this work across the whole of Amber Valley.

Based in Heanor, a mobile boxing unit will operate across Ripley, Belper, Alfreton, Heanor and surrounding areas for the next 12 months.
The sessions will be deployed in local areas of concern, offering young people under 18 the opportunity to take part. The aim is to engage, inspire, and identify future participants for FREE boxing sessions at The Lion’s Den, Heanor.

Working alongside each Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT), this initiative will be accessible across all SNT areas, helping to further reduce and prevent ASB by providing positive alternatives.

Tonight, Sasha dared to be great, stepping into the ring against former world champion Shannon Courtenay in only her 5th pro fight. She started strong in the first round but took a tough shot in the second and faced a significant head clash in the third. While many believe the bout should have been declared a no contestduee to the BBBoC rules but Courtenay was awarded the win via TKO.

Everyone at Lions Den is incredibly proud of Sasha. What many don’t realize is that she has only been boxing for four years, with her first year focused solely on getting her weight up from just 40 kg (6 stone).

Sasha has come such a long way, and what she’s achieved in this short time is nothing short of incredible. A massive thank you to Jake Paul and MVP Promotions for the opportunity and the fantastic support during fight week.

This setback won’t hold Sasha back. She deserves a well-earned break after a grueling camp and will come back stronger than ever. Proud is an understatement. Well done, Sasha! Hold your head high!

10 Days away for our very own Sasha Booker

so so proud of her the past few weeks have been so bad and for most others would have been enough to stop and give up but she hasn't missed a beat.

never missed a session never let anything hold her back she has been a proper warrior.

proud is an undstatement the young lady she has become is something she should be so extremely proud of too!
