Support our Captain Kaine Knight and Jordan on their walk from Langley Mill to Skegness!
In loving memory of Kaines dad Jeffro ❤️

Jordan and Kaine are taking on a challenge that will test them physically, mentally, and emotionally. They are walking all the way from Langley Mill to Skegness. Every mile they walk has a purpose.

Jordan and Kaine are doing this in memory of Jeffro Knight, Kaine's Dad and Jordan's Friend, who sadly lost his life to su***de.

This iw what they say, "Jeffro was someone who mattered deeply to many people. His loss has left a space that can never truly be filled, and it has made us realise just how important mentalhealth is. Too many people suffer in silence, believing they are alone, and we do not want Jeffro’s memory to fade away without making a difference. This walk is our way of honouring him."

The journey from Langley Mill to Skegness is long, and there will be tired legs, sore feet and difficult moments. But none of that compares to the pain of losing someone we cared about.

Whenever the walk becomes hard, we will remember why we started: for Jeffro, for his memory, and for everyone who is struggling with their mental health.

They are raising money in Aid of Derbyshire Mind

They said, "We believe that the work [Derbyshire] Mind does can save lives, and if our walk encourages even one person to reach out for help, then every step will have been a success."

Yesterdays game saw the mighty Wolves host Shelton Lions, who finished mid-table last season in Division 3. Two words were given to the boys from the start…. HIGH INTENSITY, and they didn’t disappoint.

The Wolves started the better of the two teams with some lovely 1 and 2 touch football, but a little lapse in concentration resulted in an early goal for the away team. It wasn’t long after going down that the Wolves brought it back level after a precise through ball from captain Middleton through to R Hallam, who slotted it calmly around the keeper to make it 1-1.

It wasn’t long after when last season’s top scorer Marriott opened his account after another delicious through ball from Middleton to make it 2-1.

Shelton started to get the ball on the ground and quickly turned the game around to make it 3-2 to Shelton at half time.

The half-time message was more intensity, and did the boys deliver in the second half……. Of course they did

Immediately into the second half, Muringani got his first of the season after a beautiful pass from Clark to make it 3-3.

Goal of the game came from a corner which was originally well defended by Shelton, only for the ball to fall to Beale, who was 25 yards away. He smashed it over the keeper — WHAT A FINISH! 4-3.

The Shelton heads went down and the Wolves took advantage after a through ball from Muringani to Annabel to quickly make it 5-3.

This brings us to the play of the game, straight off the training ground. A free kick 20 yards out, Marriott steps up looking like he’s going to put his foot straight through it, only to pass it to the end of the wall to Clark. 1 touch, turn and smashed into the top bin by Clark. This really was a thing of beauty. Well done coaches! 6-3.

The last 3 goals were the effects of the Marriott, Draper and Muringani show:

7-3 — A cross from Muringani met by Draper.

8-3 — A shot from Muringani parried by the keeper and well anticipated by Marriott.

9-3 — Through ball from Draper to Marriott to complete his hat-trick. 🎩⚽

Each team could have easily scored another 3 or 4 goals each if it wasn’t for great goalkeeping at both ends, but it ended 9-3, and after promotion last year no-one expected this result, but what a start it was!

MOTM went to Beale, who was immense at the back. He was a real menace for Shelton’s wingers and he also stepped up with the goal of the day from 25 yards.

Star Inn FC 1-4 Sunnyside FC

Sunnyside FC travelled away to Star Inn FC and were looking for their first win of the season.

Sunnyside FC started well and were soon in front after 15 mins when Taylor Mellors was fouled just outside the box. It was Breeyen Grainger who confidently stepped up to take the free kick he then struck it sweetly from 25 yards out and it flew into the top corner giving the goalkeeper no chance 0-1 Sunnyside FC.⚽

The first was tough on Sunnyside but they were battling for everything and reached half time still deservedly in the lead.

Star Inn FC started the second half with a bang and was soon level with a nicely worked goal. 1-1⚽

Sunnyside FC changed personnel and went to a flat back 4 with 3 up top and started to dominate the play.

It wasn't long before the Grainger brothers combined with Breeyen clipping the ball into his brother Keaton to head into the net 1-2 .⚽

The next goal in the game would be crucial and when a star Inn FC player stuck the ball and it hit Ashley Harriman's hand inside the area from close range conceding the penalty it was time for Farren Packard to do his business.

Farren Packard stood tall making the goal seem small and immediately made an inspirational save that lifted the whole team and sapped the life out of Star inn FC.🥅❌

Sunnyside FC now with the momentum and the young Jake Housley chasing lost causes and winning a corner for Kaine Knight to cross into Keaton Grainger to score his second of the game. 1-3 ⚽

Star inn FC were now broken and Sunnyside FC now buoyant from the goal soon followed with a fourth goal and Breeyen Grainger second from outside the box. 1-4⚽

Sunnyside are back to winning ways and have lots of positives from the game.

Man of the match Keaton Grainger controlled the back line and made crucial tackles to help win the game also with his 2 goals gets a well deserved man of the match Well done 💪

After few months off the boys were ready to get back on that pitch and do what they love…

MOTM - Theo bennet for winning everything at the back driving forward with the ball and playing some fantastic defence splitting passes through the lines scored an absolute worldie of a free kick but what impressed us the most was his judgement of picking long high balls out the sky from goal kicks 🔥

September is Su***de Prevention Awareness Month. 💚

Throughout this month, we’ll be sharing messages to help raise awareness, encourage conversations and remind people that support is always available.

Su***de doesn’t discriminate. It can affect people of any age, background or walk of life, and many people struggling don’t always show obvious signs.

A simple message, phone call or coffee with someone could make more of a difference than you realise.

We’re delighted to announce that Sunnyside FC is proud to sponsor Anderson Bower, who is currently part of the G3A programme at Ilkeston.

Many of you will know Anderson as a member of our Sunday League team whenever he’s available, but his focus right now is working incredibly hard towards a career in football. His dedication, attitude and commitment make him someone we’re all proud to support.

As a club, we believe in backing local talent and helping young people chase their dreams. It’s fantastic to see local lads representing our community and striving to achieve their goals, both on and off the pitch.

We’d like to wish Anderson and everyone at G3A the very best of luck for the season ahead. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for him, and we’ll be cheering him on every step of the way.
