Bullock Smithy Hike

Bullock Smithy Hike The Bullock Smithy Hike is a 24 hour hike / ultra run through 56 miles of the glorious Peak District.

The event begins at 12.00 noon in Hazel Grove on the A523 (Macclesfield Road). You'll have a dramatic start ascending to the highs of Lyme Park- Bowstones. From here, the hike scales Chinley Churn, Edale Cross and then tracks laterally across the Edale and Castleton valleys. At the furthest point and typically in the dark, the route passes through Millers Dale, Chelmorton and Earl Sterndale. On th

e return leg of this circular 56 mike hike you'll pass through Wildboarclough and aspects of Macclesfield Forest before taking to the well known Middlewood way to return to Hazel Grove and collect a well earned Full English breakfast. A huge shout out to two familiar faces from the Bullock Smithy team who are taking on the incredible Lakeland 100 this weekend!

Our Bookings Secretary, Rob Massey, and our long-standing 1st Man, Rory, set off at 6:00pm last night and are now over halfway through this gruelling 100-mile ultra marathon. 💪🏃

Rob is raising money for the Macclesfield Neonatal Unit, a cause very close to his heart. If you’d like to support him, every donation will be hugely appreciated:

🎉 Registration is NOW OPEN for the 50th Anniversary Bullock Smithy Hike! 🎉

The legendary hike and ultra‑running challenge returns on 5th–6th September 2026 and interest is already sky‑high. With this being our milestone 50th event, we’re expecting an especially busy event and spaces are limited.
