68.82% in the Inter I Gold yesterday, despite the heat making it a real test for everyone involved especially Danny!☀️

We are still building strength, confidence, and experience, and while I’m always impatient for more, the progress is definitely moving in the right direction. Every competition gives us something to work on and another brick in the foundation.

A few weeks of training, consolidating and strengthening work ahead now before our next challenge!

A good weekend and another positive step forward in our training.

Happy with a mistake free test and prize money on Friday in the PSG, followed by another mistake free test on Sunday in the Inter I, scoring 67.35%!

I am really pleased with the consistency we are showing and the progress we are making at this level. The work is becoming more secure, and it is encouraging to feel that we are getting closer to where we want to be….

Now I need to continue building his strength to match the level of work required, and keep developing his confidence in the work and at shows for the higher marks and our next goal….

If we continue on this path, Inter II before the end of the year is looking increasingly possible!

The end of a very busy week….

Starting with a successful show last Sunday, teaching in Wiltshire on Monday, viewing horses in Dorset on Tuesday, and then onto Hickstead Premier League Wednesday and Thursday. All whilst keeping the horses at home in training and preparing the yard for summer.

Hickstead was a fantastic show, although overwhelming for Danny with how busy it was and the sheer number of horses around, which he finds difficult. Despite that, there were so many positives to take away, valuable lessons learnt, plenty of experience gained and hopefully the exposure Danny needs to gain confidence in the show environment for the future.

We now have a few weeks before our next show, giving us time to consolidate the work, and continue to build the strength Danny needs to maintain self carriage for the higher marks.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped me get through this week, especially our yard manager Tracy for always making my life manageable. Very grateful to be finally having a day off today, the first in what seems like forever.

I was delighted to achieve our highest score to date yesterday in the Inter I, earning 68.53%. There were many marks of 8 throughout the test, and I was especially pleased to receive 8’s for the three tempi changes and the right pirouette.

The extended canter lowered our overall mark, as this remains our most fragile movement presently. Danny still finds it challenging to lengthen while maintaining the rhythm and balance in canter, we will continue working on building the strength that he requires to support his canter.

That’s the nature of dressage, there is always more to work on and improvements to be made. Developing strength, balance, and consistency takes time, but that continual progression is what makes the sport so challenging and rewarding.

Another competition, a new venue, and another opportunity to refine the process including continuing to develop and trust the warm-up routine. I’m pleased with the consistent progress being made at each show, both physically and mentally, building experience and confidence every time.

In the Prix St Georges yesterday, a loss of impulsion in the canter pirouettes proved costly, resulting in a score just shy of 66%. However, it’s encouraging to see improvement in other areas that have previously been challenging. Looking forward to continuing this upward trajectory and developing our partnership further!
