Less than one week to go until entries close for the NoPro! 🌊

If last year was anything to go by, this one’s set to be even bigger, better and full of the usual barrel of laughs.

The NoPro is a grassroots surf event for surfers who aren’t pros, hence the name 😂 Whether you’ve been surfing for years or just fancy getting involved in something a bit different, this is your sign to take the leap.

Entries are filling up fast, so make sure you’re signed up by Sunday 13 September.

The draw will take place at The Red River Inn, 7pm on Friday 18 September.

We’ve got lessons running daily, 10–12 and 1:30–3:30. If you’ve been waiting for a proper window to focus on yourself after the summer chaos, now’s the time.

Meet Ollie 🌊📸

If you’ve spent time at Gwithian, there’s a good chance you’ve already met Ollie, usually found in the water, camera in hand, down on the beach teaching, or catching you out with his converted speed-camera van!

With an extensive background in sport and a love for being in the ocean, Ollie is always up for a paddle, a surf, or helping you make the most of your time in the water.

Keep an eye out for him next time you’re at the beach — he’s hard to miss! 🤙

Billy

From grom to go-to coach. Billy’s been part of the Gwithian family since day one. Taught by Gab as a kid in the GAS Locals Club, he’s come full circle: from work experience to full-time instructor, spreading good vibes and quality surf coaching here on gwithian.

A face everyone around Gwithian knows and loves, Billy’s the kind of guy who never has a bad word to say about anyone — just pure positivity, patience, and next-level coaching.

We’re so incredibly lucky to have him here at Gwithian Academy of Surfing. If you haven’t surfed with Billy yet, you’re missing out on one of the best! 🏄‍♂️💙

IT’S BACK NO PRO 2026

Clear your diaries for the 19th of September!

Down the Line Surf Co, Prosper House Camping, the Red River Inn, St Ives Brewery and the National Trust have joined us once again to put on this amazing surfing comp.

The competition is for NON SPONSORED surfers and is a grass roots event aimed at unleashing our competitive spirits in a relaxed environment. The event will be taking place over the weekend of the 19th of September and once again we have a Mens, Women’s, U16 Mens and U16 Women’s categories.

The plan is to run (and complete) the event on Saturday but we do have permission to run on Sunday as well if the surf is uncooperative.

Final entries for the comp is on Sunday 13th of September so that we can make the draw in the Red River Inn at 7pm on the evening of Friday 18th of September. Spots will fill up fast so get that entry in early.

There will be a band playing on both the Friday and Saturday nights.

We are aiming to have the first heat in the water by 8am on Saturday 19th.

We should have the comp all wrapped up by 6ish on the Saturday and after the finals the prize-giving will be at the Red River Inn at around 7pm. Food will be available for all competitors before Saturday evenings entertainment begins.

Prosper House Camping are offering camping for Friday and Saturday night free of charge for competitors so you can make a weekend of it if you want to. There is only a limited amount of camping pitches so it is advised to get your entry in early and don’t forget to tick the ‘Camping’ tickbox on your entry form. Camping will operate on a first come first serve basis, so get in early to avoid disappointment!

Meet the Instructor: Rosé 🌊

Rosé has been part of the Gwithian Academy of Surfing team since last season, and he’s already made a huge impact. From the beach and surf school to the village, his charm, energy and friendly nature have made him a firm favourite with everyone.

When he’s not delivering great surf lessons, Rosé is studying to become an architect, performing karaoke or perfecting his golf swing. We’re incredibly lucky to have him as part of the team and can’t wait to welcome him back for another season! 🏄‍♂️🎤⛳️
