Hayle Pilot Gig Club Hayle Pilot Gig Club rows from Hayle Harbour, North Quay. We are open to all and have over 90 members from all walks of life. Come down and have a row!

Hayle Pilot Gig Club (originally Hayle Rowing and Pilot Gig Club) was founded in 1976. It now has over 70 members, of a range of ages and abilities. The club maintains a fun, but competitive atmosphere. The club trains from the estuary in Hayle as well from Newlyn Harbour , dependent on the tide and sea conditions. We have two wooden boats, Azook (built in 1999), and Arveth built by Peter William

s of Fowey in 2014. The club also own two plastic training boats, Piala and Gwinear. The club participates in a wide range of regattas and other events throughout the season, including the World Pilot Gig Championships on the Isles of Scilly in May, and the Newquay County Championships in September. It also hosts its own event in August on Copperhouse Pool in Hayle - the County Under 14's Championships. 🥉 3rd Overall at Zennor Regatta! 🥉
​A huge day for the club! We had a full complement of crews out on the water at Zennor, and every single point counted toward us taking 3rd Place Overall in a very competitive field.

​A massive well done to our U14 and U16 crews, who both secured incredible finishes! Your hard work is really showing on the race course.

​It wasn't just the juniors, though, Arveth was busy all day with fantastic performances across the board:

​Ladies A: 6th
​Mens A: 5th
​Ladies B: 5th
​Mens B: 11th
​Ladies Vets: 9th
​Mens Vets: 5th
​Mixed: 6th

​Beyond the numbers, today was about milestones. We had a lot of members rowing in their very first regatta and a first time coxing in a race. You all handled the pressure brilliantly!

​Massive thanks to Zennor Gig Club for the top-tier organisation and a great day of racing. Onwards to the next one! 🚣‍♂️💨

The official opening of The Compound last week was a landmark event in the history of Hayle Pilot Gig Club. It celebrated not only a new physical home but also fifty years of teamwork, commitment, and community spirit.

​The success of the event reflects the extraordinary dedication of volunteers, organisers, sponsors, and members. The Compound now stands as a lasting testament to what can be achieved when a community works together.
​As Hayle Pilot Gig Club enters its next chapter, it does so with renewed pride, strengthened relationships, and facilities that will support the club for decades to come.

​Thank you to everyone who was able to attend, especially those who brought food and drinks. Special thanks to Perran Moon for coming down to cut the ribbon, to Emma for organising the day, to all those who arrived early to help set up, and to Sharon for her excellent catering skills. Day 2 at the World Pilot Gig Championships - and what a day it was! 💪🌊

We kicked things off with our Women’s Senior crew, featuring 3 Scillies virgins — including 2 juniors stepping up into the ladies section. An amazing experience for them and a huge milestone 👏 A strong row with plenty of battles along the way, finishing 89th (Group H)

Next up, the Men’s Senior crew, putting in a solid performance to finish 48th (Group D) 💥

On to the Nut Rock races, where both crews dug deep and held their positions in their respective groups - setting themselves up well to race again today!

And a special shoutout to our cheer squad who made the trip over from home to support us - it means the world, thank you for bringing the noise in true Hayle style 🙌

Yesterday a group of our rowers represented HPGC as the Towan Titans and battled through the , a 10k extreme assault course.
