🟢⚽ TWO FROM TWO! ⚽🟢

Dylan with the cross, Haydn with the flick… and ALBERT HAS WON IT!

The Saints made it two wins from two with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over a strong and stubborn St Harmon side at Forest Road.

The Saints dominated possession in the first half but found it difficult to break down a resolute St Harmon defence. Dave Thomas came closest with a free kick that the keeper did brilliantly to palm away.

St Harmon started the second half brightly, with the introduction of Abel Ryan giving them an outlet with the long ball. But the Saints' back four of Charlie Williams, Dave Thomas, Joe Metcalfe and returning Haydn Morgan were outstanding all evening.

As the game opened up, the Saints started creating more chances. Dylan Gough and Charlie Ward found space, Haydn went close with a header from a corner, and Ward almost picked out Ted Bird with a fantastic cross from the right.

Then came the moment we'd been waiting for…

Albert kept his effort down brilliantly and steered the ball home for his FIRST SENIOR GOAL!

St Harmon 0-1 Saints

There was still work to do, with St Harmon forcing a few late corners and captain James Powell curling an effort just over the bar.
But the Saints stood firm and saw the game out.

Two very different games in a quick turnaround from Tuesday, but two wins from two.
Full credit to St Harmon, who made life difficult throughout, but a narrow Saints win was probably the right result.

Saints Run Riot at Forest Road

Fans at Forest Road were treated to a superb Saints performance as they ran riot, defeating Rhayader Town Reserves 5-0.

The Saints dominated possession early on but perhaps overplayed at times without creating any clear-cut chances. That changed when new captain Jack Cook, Tam Emmett and Ted Bird combined, with Bird playing an inch perfect ball through to Charlie Ward, who calmly fired past the keeper.

Half-time: 0-1

The home side made changes at the break, but the Saints continued to dominate. Ward doubled the lead with a cross-cum-shot from the right that looped over the keeper and into the far corner.

Ward then completed his hat-trick in bizarre fashion. Following a shot from Adam Corbett and a scramble in the box, the ball struck Charlie on a certain part of his anatomy and rolled in. Not his finest goal, but he'll certainly take it!

3-0.

The fourth followed after a Zidane-esque run from Tam Emmett, who found Dylan Gough, and he calmly slotted into the corner.

The scoring was completed by Adam Corbett, who had rattled the post moments earlier. A superb corner from the immaculate Jack Cook was met by Corbett, who finished well to round off an impressive Saints performance.

After a summer of uncertainty and change following last season’s achievements, this young side blended with experience produced a performance of real maturity. The best response to doubt is simply to let the football do the talking and tonight, the Saints certainly did that.

So tough to pick a man of match after top performances from all 16 players on the night but today’s vote goes to Charlie Ward for his first Hat Trick of the season and his tireless running.

We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of one of the biggest and most dedicated supporters in the club’s recent history, Becky Days.

Becky became such a hugely likeable and important member of our club as her son, Tom, came through the junior ranks and began his senior career.

She didn’t just follow the team all over the Merthyr League and Mid Wales supporting Tom and his teammates, Becky became an unofficial member of the team, even driving our young squad to games and proudly cheering them on from the touchline. Her voice, enthusiasm and unwavering support were impossible to miss.

In recognition of her incredible commitment to the club, Becky was awarded the Ernie Parker Award for Achievement two seasons ago, an award she was incredibly proud to receive.
Bec will be sorely missed by everyone at the club. Her humour, passion and support will never be forgotten, and she will always hold a special place in our club family.

Our biggest thoughts and deepest condolences are with Tom & Ben and all of Becky’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.
