With a few teams managing to get games going ahead at the start of the Easter holidays, we have a small selection of reports for this weeks Haxby Highlights!
π΅π‘β½οΈ U10's Royal vs Fulford Saxons β½οΈπ‘π΅
Haxby Royals v Fulford Saxons With Saxons only having 6 players it was a 6v6 match.
Royals quickly got into their rhythm when there was a clear handball and great spot by the referee. Elio stepped to fire in the bottom corner.
Hugh & Louis in defence forming a great partnership with Louisβ energy & Hughβs you will pass to me πͺπ» setting up moves from the back, a corner from Elio to Mason & great footwork into the top corner.
Nate having a couple of shots just wide and over the bar, Saxons still a threat hitting the bar.
Sadly Royals had Alex going off injured at half time but Finlay stepped up between the sticks, there was a great run and cross from Joe to Elio on the volley.
Nate having another shot but a great save was made by the Saxons keeper. During the second half another Fulford player appeared (he canβt have put his clock forward), He was fresh as a daisy & was running the show but Royal hung on!
Well played Royals - tough game, great refereeing from Travis, thanks for helping us out this season.
Coaches POTM - Joe
Parents POTM - Hugh - Captain next match Louis

π΅π‘β½οΈ U10's Navy vs Hamilton Panthers Blue β½οΈπ‘π΅
Navy finished off their season hosting Hamilton Panthers Blue's at Ethel Ward this morning! With 3 players away on their hols leaving no subs, against a team we knew were strong, it was going to be a tough game!
The strong wind was creating challenges for both teams and it was Panthers who started the game strongest, stringing some nice passing together.
Thomas and Archie were our defenders today but it was everyone putting a shift in with Fin, Freddie, George and Noah tucking in block and stop any Panthers attack materialising!
The first goal came from a low Panthers ball across the box that was turned in by a Navy player. But Navy heads didn't drop and they started to gain some traction of their own, playing the ball out and trying to mount a challenge on the Panthers goal.
Fin and George worked well together and always looked like there was going to be a chance!
Archie was dribbling the ball out from the back well and leading the charge! Noah was doing his best to cover every blade of grass as normal πͺπ»
Panthers were tackling hard and using their physicality to their advantage, forcing through the Navy midfield but their shots were met by Vinnie in between the sticks.
The second goal came just before half time, another Panthers attack from the wing with a heavily deflected cross that looped into the Navy net!
In the second half Navy were a lot more composed and were finding the right passes and playing their way up the pitch well!
George and Fin were proving difficult to deal with, Panthers players resorting to taking them out to stop any Navy attacks!
Panthers were still playing well and having attacks of their own, a low hard strike from the left wing made it's way into the bottom corner.
All the Navy players were battling hard and had a 5 minute spell of corners and good play in the Panthers half but the Panthers keeper was having a strong game!
Panthers broke on the counter attack for their shot from the left wing was tipped over the bar by Vinnie. The resulting corner was a scrappy one, with everyone scrambling for the ball in the box it was a Panthers toe that got to the ball first as the ball trickled into the bottom corner!
For the last 10 minutes, Navy were holding strong! Each one of them battling to win the ball and getting stuck in where it would have been easier to give up and let Panthers play their game!
All in all a solid performance, fighting until the end and a game they can all be proud of πͺπ»
Opposition POTM: Archie
A beast leading the attack from the back!
Coaches POTM: Vinnie
Some great saves and a decent goal keeping debut!

π΅π‘β½οΈ U10's Sky vs Hamilton Panthers Blue β½οΈπ‘π΅
Sky took on Easingwold in their penultimate match in the A-league. Sky were depleted with several players missing, but the game went ahead with 6v6.
Easingwold were naturally quick out of the blocks and scored with the first attack of the game. Haxby kept going, looking to play out from the back with neat passing between Lucas, Matthew and then forward to Teddy.
Patrick, full of running in midfield went from box to box, hunting down the ball and trying to find Freddie upfront who just didnβt get a slice of luck with some long balls forward.
As the half wore on Noah pulled off save after save in goal keeping Sky in it, but then Easingwold capitalised with Sky players struggled with injuries.
Into the second half, and a tweak to the formation saw Sky getting more of the ball and pushing higher up. Noah was fearless in goal, charging down shot after shot and getting a knock to the head for his troubles.
Matthew moved in to a wing back position and did well to run the ball out of the sky half. Lucas played well as sweeper, and Teddy and Freddie constantly were tracking back to make challenges and help out.
The best moment of the game. In something that was literally directly from the training ground yesterday, from well inside his own half, Patrick hit an unstoppable low effort, the Easingwold players parting like the Red Sea to let it run through to the keeper, who had forgotten Haxbyβs secret weaponβ¦.the bobble.
Through the keeper it went and nestled into the back of the net, sending the fans at Ethel Ward wild!
Parents player of the match - Noah strong and brave in goal, good distribution and kept Sky in the game
Coaches player of the match - Freddie. Great attacking and defensive play, kept running despite suffering with injuries and battled well.

π΅π‘β½οΈ U11's Rovers vs Wigginton Green β½οΈπ‘π΅
Another short trip for Rovers, this time against Wiggy greens. Due to absences and injury a reduced Rovers team adapted well and battled throughout in the first half before conceding just before the break. The lads acquitted themselves well and kept defending as a unit, whilst trying to play their style of football. Unfortunately the goals kept coming for Wiggy despite Rovers efforts. The boys hard work paid with late efforts from Charlie and Cav.
POTM: Given by opposition coach, Charlie and Cav both mentioned but edged by Charlie. 2 weeks to go before the lads final game of the season. We go again!
