Mastering Large Natural Waters: The Ultimate Bream Feeder Strategy
If you’re heading out onto the water, you know as well as I do that tackling a massive, deep glacial lake like Esthwaite isn't like fishing your local commercial pond. With hundreds of acres of wild water out there, keeping a big shoal of proper slab Bream and Skimmers settled on your spot takes some going? It's really magical when it happens.
When you’re facing those deep-water undertows and vast distances, your groundbait has to do some serious heavy lifting. You need something heavy, packed with goodness, and smelly enough to draw fish in from miles away. That's why we always point folks toward the Bait-Tech Pro-Natural Bream Mix and the matching Pro-Natural Bream Liquid on our stand in store. It’s an absolute powerhouse combination for our water.
The Foundation: Pro-Natural Bream Mix
This stuff is brilliant for wild venues. It’s got that classic, sweet Brazem aroma—a spicy, sweet scent that Bream absolutely lose their minds for.
It’s packed with sweet biscuits, crushed expanses, and top-tier proteins. What I love about it is the texture; it mixes up nice and sticky, making it the perfect vehicle for carrying loads of chopped worms, casters, and dead maggots down to the deck without washing away in the wind or currents. Plus, that dark golden color looks totally natural on the lakebed, so those big, cautious slabs won't spook.
Supercharging Your Mix: The Liquid Edge
Out on the big lake, scent is everything. If you want to get the absolute most out of your session, grab a bottle of the Pro-Natural Bream Liquid.
Don't just pour it on top at the end—add about 50–100ml of the liquid directly into your lake water before you mix your dry groundbait. This ensures every single crumb is locked and loaded with that sweet, heavy attraction. When your feeder hits the bottom, it creates this beautiful, lazy, sweet cloud right above the lakebed, drawing cruising fish down from the upper layers straight to your hook.
How to Fish It Out There
When you get to your peg, patience and accuracy are your best mates. Here’s what you want to do:
The Build-Up: Start by clipping up and casting small feeders. Pack them with your Pro-Natural mix and lace it with dead maggots and cut worms. corn and h**p to lay down some proper attraction.
The Top-Up: Once you're getting bites, switch to a window feeder to keep the spot ticking over quietly.
Hold the Shoal: Remember, when a big shoal of Bream moves in, they'll clean you out in seconds. This mix has enough physical food value to actually hold them there, giving you the time you need to put together a massive, memorable net of fish.
Trust the blend, get your feeding rhythm sorted, and you'll watch that tip fly round in no time!
