Another beautiful week at HGC!

These stunning photos show the course at its absolute best. Thanks to the recent rain followed by plenty of sunshine, the fairways, greens and surrounding areas are looking wonderfully lush and green. It’s hard to believe we’re halfway through the golfing season already!

As we head into another spell of extremely hot weather, we’d like to remind all members and guests to take extra care while out on the course. Please stay well hydrated, make use of any shade where possible, wear suitable sun protection and don’t be afraid to take things a little easier during the hottest parts of the day.

Golf is meant to be enjoyed, and we want everyone to stay safe while making the most of these fantastic summer conditions.

🌿 The rain has done its job, and just look at Haverhill Golf Club now! 🌞

After some much-needed rainfall, the course has burst back into lush green life and with the sunshine returning, it’s looking absolutely spectacular out there. Fairways are thriving, the greens are rolling beautifully, and the whole course is looking every bit the summer golfing paradise.

Now is the perfect time to dust off the clubs, gather your golfing buddies, and get a few rounds booked in. Whether you’re chasing a personal best, enjoying a casual game, or simply soaking up the scenery, there are few better places to spend a summer’s day.

🏆 Social Committee Cup Results 🏆

A fantastic turnout of 113 players took to the course for this year’s Social Committee Cup, making for a highly competitive day with some excellent scoring throughout the field.

Congratulations to Adrian Annis, who claimed victory with an impressive 40 points, edging out a strong chasing pack to take the title.

In second place was Simon Youngs with 39 points, narrowly ahead of Eric Armstrong, who also finished on 39 points and secured third place after countback.

Well done to all of our prize winners and thank you to everyone who took part and helped make the competition such a success. It’s great to see such strong support for club competitions, especially with over 100 players enjoying the course.

The Haverhill Golf Club Seniors have certainly been keeping themselves busy over the last couple of weeks, with three matches played in quick succession and some excellent golf on display.

The run started with a strong 5.5–2.5 home victory over Stoke by Nayland, another impressive team performance that continued the excellent form shown throughout the season. The momentum carried on into the following week with an outstanding 5–1 win at home against Newmarket Golf Club, where the team once again made full use of home advantage and put together a superb all-round display.

Every winning streak eventually faces a tough test, and Friday’s trip to Cambridge Country Club proved just that. Despite battling hard away from home, the Seniors came up against a strong Cambridge side and were defeated 5.5–2.5. While the result didn’t go Haverhill’s way, the team can take plenty of positives from another competitive performance on the road.

Two wins from three matches and another successful spell for the Seniors, who continue to represent Haverhill Golf Club brilliantly throughout the season.

A huge thank you to all players, captains, organisers and volunteers who continue to make these fixtures possible, and to our visitors from Stoke by Nayland, Newmarket and Cambridge Country Club for their great company and sportsmanship.

Think your golf game can handle anything? Think again… 😂⛳

Our 50th Anniversary Greenkeepers Revenge competition certainly lived up to its name!

Toilet seats, office chairs, multiple golf balls, ridiculous tee positions, impossible challenges and plenty of confused golfers wondering what on earth was coming next. Safe to say the greens team pulled out all the stops and made life as difficult as possible for everyone!

The result? Plenty of laughs, some surprisingly creative golf shots, and a lot of failed attempts that are now captured forever on video for your entertainment. 🎥

A huge thank you to everyone who took part and to all those who helped create another fantastic event as part of our 50th Anniversary celebrations.

What a way to round off May! Here’s to a summer full of great golf, great memories and plenty more fun here at Haverhill Golf Club.

A hard-fought victory for our Curry Cup team yesterday as Haverhill secured a 10-8 win over Essex Golf Club in a closely contested match at home.

With many of the games going right down to the 18th hole, it was a day full of quality golf, determination, and plenty of tense moments. Credit to Essex Golf Club, who battled back superbly in several matches and proved to be excellent opponents throughout the day.

A huge well done to everyone who represented Haverhill and helped secure the win. Thank you to Essex Golf Club for making the trip and for a fantastic day of competitive golf played in great spirit.

As always, a big thank you to our volunteers, supporters, clubhouse team and greens staff. The course was presented beautifully and provided a fitting stage for such a closely fought contest.

🏌️‍♀️ Ladies Team Result | Bank Holiday Sunday 🏌️‍♀️

A fantastic result for our Ladies team on Bank Holiday Sunday as they secured an impressive 3½ – 1½ victory over Bungay in the Weston Division matches here at Haverhill! 👏

Great performances all round with wins for Lynne Hart (1up) and Lyn Fish (6&5), alongside hard-fought halves from Mandy Williamson, Linda Alexander and Jackie Condon helping the team get over the line.

A brilliant team effort and another strong showing for our Ladies section. Well done to everyone involved and thank you to Bungay for the match. Also a big thank you as always to all the volunteers and everyone behind the scenes helping to keep match days running smoothly.
