More support for local families in Haverhill 💛

We're delighted that the Memories Are Golden Community Hub at Haverhill Leisure Centre has secured a new five-year commitment and expanded its space, increasing capacity from 60 to 90 people each week.

The hub provides vital support for people living with dementia, those experiencing social isolation and others in need, while also offering valuable respite for family carers.

This expansion has been made possible through a fantastic partnership between Memories Are Golden, Abbeycroft, West Suffolk Council, Suffolk County Council, Haverhill Town Council, funding partners, volunteers and supporters across the community.

We're proud that Haverhill Leisure Centre can continue to be home to such an important service, helping more local people access the support, friendship and care they deserve.

As part of Drowning Prevention Week, our Swim Academy team is helping children develop the skills and confidence they need to stay safe in and around water.

Swimming lessons are about more than learning strokes – they're an opportunity to learn essential lifesaving skills, understand water safety, and build confidence that lasts a lifetime.

This week, we're supporting RLSS UK's Drowning Prevention Week campaign and sharing important messages that could help save lives.

Drowning is preventable, and nobody should drown.

This week marks Drowning Prevention Week, the annual campaign from the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK), helping children and young people gain the knowledge and skills they need to stay safe in and around water.

As summer approaches and more families head outdoors, water safety becomes more important than ever. Throughout the week, our Swim Academy will be reinforcing essential water safety messages, building confidence in the water, and helping young swimmers understand how to recognise risks and make safe choices.
