BLUEBIRDS CLAIM FIRST THREE POINTS OF THE SEASON 🔵⚪️
Haverfordwest County Women secured their first three points of the season with a deserved 3–2 victory over Llantwit Fardre Ladies at the Dynamite Bridge Meadow Stadium.
The Bluebirds started brightly and enjoyed long spells of possession, controlling the tempo of the game without initially creating too many clear-cut opportunities against a well-organised Llantwit defence.
The breakthrough arrived after 25 minutes. Some excellent work from Ella Pearce down the right-hand side created the opening, with Jasmine Thomas arriving at the back post to finish and give Haverfordwest a deserved 1–0 lead.
Llantwit responded well and looked to find a way back into the contest before the interval, but the Bluebirds remained disciplined to take their advantage into half-time.
Haverfordwest came out strongly after the break and produced their best spell of the game, dominating proceedings for a 20-minute period.
After creating the opener, Ella Pearce turned goalscorer to double the advantage. Her effort from the edge of the area looped over the Llantwit goalkeeper to put the Bluebirds firmly in control at 2–0.
With five minutes remaining, Haverfordwest looked to have wrapped up the points. Left-back Chloe Thomas produced an inch-perfect pass to release Kayla Jones, who finished clinically to make it two goals in two Tier 3 appearances and give the Bluebirds a commanding 3–0 lead.
Llantwit refused to give up, however, and threw everything forward in the closing stages. Two late goals made for a nervy finish, but Haverfordwest showed resilience and composure to see out the remaining minutes and secure a well-deserved 3–2 victory.
A strong performance, three goals and, most importantly, our first three points of the season! 💙
Attention now turns to next Sunday as we travel to face Johnstown away.
