Think you need to be flexible to do yoga? Or that using a block means you’re not quite “good enough” yet?

Let’s rethink that.

Yoga props aren’t a sign of weakness, limitation or inexperience. A block, strap, bolster or blanket can help us work with our bodies rather than forcing our bodies into a particular shape.

They can support our joints, improve alignment, help us find stability, build strength and sometimes allow us to experience a pose in a way we simply couldn’t without them.

And perhaps most importantly, they can remind us that yoga isn’t about achieving the deepest version of a pose.

It’s about awareness. Listening. Adapting. And learning to work with the body we have today.

I’ve written this month’s blog about why using props in yoga isn’t cheating and why they might actually make your practice better.

What if one hour each week could leave you feeling calmer, lighter and more rested?

In our busy lives, we're often encouraged to keep doing more.
Restorative Yoga offers something different; it invites you to slow down.

Supported by bolsters and blocks, you'll settle into gentle poses that allow your body to completely relax. As the body softens, the mind begins to settle too.

No experience is needed. No flexibility is required. Just come as you are.

Restorative Yoga
Wednesdays at 6:15–7:15pm
29th July – 2nd September
Bedhampton Community Centre

If you've been craving a little more rest this summer, I'd love to welcome you.

This month's blog is all about creating change.

We often think we need one big moment to change our lives, but the truth is that lasting change is built through the small things we do consistently. The thoughts we repeat. The actions we take. The habits we practise every day.

In the blog, I explore why it's so hard to break habits that no longer serve us, how our minds and bodies adapt through repetition, and why Yoga is such a powerful practice for creating lasting change. Read it here.

We often think changing our lives requires massive, overnight shifts. But our minds and bodies are shaped by what we do repeatedly.

I recently attended a research workshop at the University of Sussex led by Katie Harrison, who is exploring social connection in Yoga for her PhD.

It made me reflect on something I hadn’t fully considered before: how much of what we do as Yoga teachers goes beyond the physical practice. The sense of connection in a class, between people, often happens quietly, without us naming it.

I’ve written a blog exploring this idea and why it might be more important than we think, especially in a time when many people feel increasingly disconnected.

We are wired for connection, yet loneliness is rising. Learn the science of social connection and how group practices can help you feel deeply supported and safe.

I've been meaning to put together an overview of all the reasons we experience pain in the body.

I've broken it down in more depth here: https://www.livinginyoga.co.uk/blog/the-story-your-body-tells

Once you become aware of why pain exists in certain parts of the body, you realise that the body is not working against you; it’s responding to everything it has experienced. The goal then becomes to understand it, support it, and work with it.

Explore the root causes of body pain beyond the surface. Learn how your upbringing, injury compensations, and desk-sitting habits shape your posture and health.
