I managed to squeeze a couple of days out of the office this week to play in the Essex Open

Despite winning the Pro Am with a 69 and finishing 2nd with my team, disappointingly, it was evident that I need to find time for more golf and to regain match fitness, as the cold and windy 36 holes that followed proved too much. I could only manage a 10th place with rounds of 76 / 72 to finish +8.

Congratulations to for his fourth title! Great golf in testing conditions. 👏🏻

After a few years of defeat, it was great to finally win back the trophy from the Essex County Amateur Team. What a quality bunch of lads these guys are!

Although we didn’t win County of the Year at last night .golf Awards 2026 it was a fantastic evening and so inspiring to see so many others are working hard to make golf accessible and welcoming to everyone.

A huge thank you to for taking the time to say hi too. What an inspirational human being.

A fantastic couple of days playing two outstanding golf courses. Thank you to both & for your hospitality and allowing us to play.

Both are amongst my favourites and I am most grateful for the experience each time I visit.

A pleasant afternoon at with my partner, narrowly missing out on the prizes but content with a respectable result.
The course was in fantastic condition for the time of year. Thanks to and for hosting another great event.

Not where I wanted to finish today, but good to get out of the office. Despite never being too far away from work when I play in Essex.

Another lunchtime lead lost in the afternoon.
33 putts in the morning for a -2 67
Followed up with a +4 73 second round with the dreaded 36 putts.

Had it on string this morning and felt like the old days!
This afternoon I just felt old!!

Congratulations to my mate who’s steady display saw him win the Essex PGA Championship

The course was in great condition and the recent investment has transformed the Wanstead Golf Club I used to know. Awesome to be back there.

No one expected the Europeans to require just 3 points from Sunday’s singles matches, what a performance under such hostile crowds.
The lack of respect shown by the American fans illustrates just where golf is heading… first they force WHS on us and now they’re once again, like Brookline, displaying their lack of class and integrity.

I’m hoping for a total score greater than 20 for the Europeans! Let’s really embarrass them.

A fast start sees Europe take a 3 point lead heading into the Saturday Foursomes.
With little change in all the pairings, Europe should be strong again. 💪🏻

One things for sure, English & Morikawa will be looking for revenge on Rory & Tommy!
