Our last funded indoor session was today and it was bloody amazing! Everyone played the best I’ve seen! There were 3 pointers left right and centre! 😮‍💨

Incredibly proud of this bunch and so impressed with how far everyone has come. The good vibes never cease to amaze me.

Whilst we don’t have the security and stability of a booked indoor court now, we won’t let that stop us! We will be outdoors same time but at the courts by the skatepark. It will be weather permitting so check our insta for updates on sessions!

This season has been a BLAST and I can’t wait to play in the sunshine with this glorious gang of babes 🌞

Another smashing session by the gang! Always blown away by our new members and their ability to pick everything up so quickly. One of the many joys of basketball is how user friendly it is - once you’ve got your head around how to shoot and a couple rules - you’re good to go!

Such a pleasure to watch everyone’s (including my own!) confidence build over the weeks/months/years!

I say it every time but EXCELLENT session today! Had a whole gang of newbies which was amazing and everyone played fantastically. I love watching people progress in the space of an hour! All shyness seems to disappear once the game is in play 🥰

So proud of this little team.. we’ve nearly been running for TWO whole years?! 🤯

In 2020, I first picked up a basketball (big up ) and fell in love with the courts. I then realised that the closest women’s team was over an hour away and it seemed too advanced for a beginner like me…

So I set my own team up and Hastings Butterflies hatched 🦋

We aren’t really like other sports teams. Your skill level doesn’t matter. Most of our team are complete newbies. Our focus is community & feeling good.

I think PE traumatised a lot of us and I really am trying to undo that by encouraging people to do things even if they aren’t ‘good’ at them (at first). I never grew up sporty & I felt like that door was always closed for me so I wanted to create a safe space to remind people that it’s never too late to learn your body and have fun.

Our sessions are free and open to anyone identifying as a woman or non-binary/gender fluid.

Mum with no childcare? You can bring your littles - whilst they won’t be able to play in session for safety reasons, there’s plenty of space for them to chill/snack/play on the sides.

Scared of commitment? There is none! Come and play when you feel like it with no pressure to join every session. You’re welcome to come and sit on the sidelines if you’d just like to watch at first.

A massive shoutout to everyone that has supported me in this venture of mine. Before every session, I get major imposter syndrome and feel anxious af because I know I’m not experienced enough teach basketball but every session I leave on an absolute high.

Y’all showed me I could do something I wouldn’t have dreamed was possible so I am eternally grateful.

Looking forward to bringing back the OG outdoor sessions when the sun decides to pop out!

Excellent session today back after the holidays. First of 2023 🥳

I know it’s not the easiest bringing yourself out for an activity at this time of year when it’s practically dark before we start so I MASSIVELY appreciate anyone that shows up to be part of the team…

We have a full court booked out til March so if childcare is an obstacle for you - you’re welcome to bring them along! 🤝

The educational system really tricked us guys… we actually don’t have to be skilled at something to do it! Especially sports! Especially being creative! Shock horror hey, but it’s so sad how many adults don’t try new things cause of the fear of not being good enough.

So do the damn thing even if you’re a bit s**t 🦋🏀

We were lucky to have a full court today and whewwwww that was a whole other level of cardio, but the endorphins are raging and we are feeling goooooood!
