Rye Ancient Trails 15km and 30km

A beautiful trail race hosted by Nice Works, with some seriously quick times across both distances on a challenging course.

Starting with the 30km, Steve Gates took the win by 10 minutes in 2:02:05, taking a huge 5 minutes off the course record. A strong performance after a solid and consistent block of training.

Harriet Blaikie followed in 2:30:22, finishing as the second female, while Henry Fryzer also took on the longer distance and finished in an impressive 2:41:05.

Over in the 15km, we had a bigger group of athletes on the start line. Dave Turner and Robert Ferguson both won their respective age group categories, while Kieran Moss ran a course personal best as he continues his Valencia Marathon training block.

Georgia Sayer and Jo Saxby also put in brilliant performances across the challenging course.

A great day of racing and some very strong performances from everyone involved.

HAC athletes excel at Helvellyn and Brighton triathlons

Jeremy Henwood and Michael Maxwell produced excellent performances at two very different triathlons on Sunday 6 September, both recording the third fastest run split in their respective races.

Jeremy tackled the formidable Helvellyn Triathlon: a one mile swim, 38 mile bike including Kirkstone Pass and a 15km fell run taking in around 900m of ascent to the 950m summit of Helvellyn.

Despite rain, low cloud and winds gusting to around 50mph on the summit, Jeremy completed the swim in 20:45, bike in 1:53:06 and mountain run in 1:30:23, the third fastest run overall and fastest in his age group.

His 3:51:47 finish placed him 8th overall from 283 and 2nd of 24 in the 35 to 39 category.

In sunny Brighton, Michael produced a superb 38:02 10km run, the third fastest of all 342 finishers and fastest in the 25 to 29 category, to finish in 2:31:57.

Despite losing valuable time earlier in the race, Michael charged through the field to finish 54th overall and 4th of 40 in his age group.

Two contrasting races, two outstanding run splits and another excellent day for HAC triathletes. πŸŠβ€β™‚οΈπŸš΄β€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

A strong showing from the club in the 10K, with plenty of course personal bests and a fantastic collection of age group performances.

Rhys Boorman and Ben McCallion led the way with 2nd and 3rd place finishes in 33.15 and 33.59, while Colin White ran a huge course personal best of 37.24 to finish 9th and take 2nd M45.

There were convincing age group wins for Jacob Smith in the junior men, Rosie Ferguson in the junior women, Amy Rodway in the F45 and Dave Turner in the M50.

Frances Burnham also took 2nd F65, while the rest of the team put in some excellent performances across the field.

A great day of racing and plenty to be proud of.
