Feeling strong on the trails today!!!

First of my back to back long runs this weekend. I do love back to backs proper testing. Hills felt slightly harder today but other than that I felt strong!

All 6 of the hikers look to be running tomorrow morning! Buzzing for it!

Hill sprints have finished me!! 🤪

Roughly a mile warm up and a mile warm down on the link road with 3 sprints up the bridle path and 2 on the longer but less steep hill to the right of it. I had auto pause on so the stats aren’t correct, I think the distance would have been longer and the pace a lot slower had it been recording during my recovery walks...

Sort of session that I’m starting to incorporate into my training after a tentative reintroduction to it after my injury. It’s really tough but I know the benefits are worth it!

I’ve also discovered a new trail shoe favourite, the hoka speedboat 3’s. Thanks to (the Hastings hiker speed goat) for the absolute bargain!!

How does Easter look for you? Are you training? Or are you taking a well deserved rest??

In December last year I rolled my ankle on an 8 mile trail run. I thought it would just be a couple of weeks but it turned out to be a lot longer than that. It’s been really frustrating not being able to run, especially with man vs lakes getting closer and closer.

I’ve just got back from my 4th run since the lay off and the ankle is feeling great. As you can see I haven’t pushed it too much in terms of distance and pace, I couldn’t afford to risk putting the recovery back even further. Everything felt good and if I didn’t have the kids on their scooters with me it would have been a much faster effort today.

I feel like I’ve turned a corner now and I’m looking forward to pushing on with distance and pace. If you are currently injured, stick with it, it will come to an end and you will get back out there eventually!

Nice early bike ride to keep the legs moving.
Pulled my calf running around a month back then again after 10days rest 🤬
Two weeks now of walking and on the bike only, one more week away from running but important for my mind and body to keep moving and get outdoors.
Don’t let injury become your excuse!
