PB’s PBs🏅

After last week’s race in Cardiff, it’s been a week of rest, recovery, and reset.

I’m someone that is goal-orientated, and I like to have an event in the books to work towards. So naturally, with a big PB secured, I’ve been thinking about what’s next..

After having a look back at my race results in recent years, my thoughts are:

• I’m happy with my 10km & Half-Marathon times (for now😏).
• I think I’m in a spot where I can hit a 5km PB - maybe a sub:19 is on the cards? Watch this space👀
• I’m keen to improve my Marathon PB, especially after supporting at the Brighton & London Marathon last month! But I am conscious of how time-consuming and taxing Marathon training blocks are. It’s not the right time FOR ME to dive into this now, but it’s on my radar.🤗
• I haven’t fully applied myself to a strength-focused training block in a long while, and the 100kg bench has always alluded me.💪🏻

With summer round the corner, and a busy couple of month professionally and personally, it’s the perfect time to dive into a strength block and enjoy my training, without the pressure of an event.

6-min PB for PB 🏆

It’s been a whirlwind few months for so many reasons, so I tried not to put too much pressure on myself in this race, and just enjoy it.

I knew I would be buzzing if I could go faster than I did in Paris in April last year (1h 14m)..
. I also knew how hard I had trained over the last 14 weeks and how strong my prep leading into the race was, so somewhere in the back of my mind, I thought a 1h 10m “might” be possible…

To run a 1h 8m, and take 6 minutes off my PB, was unbelievable!🚀

Silly season is well and truly here! The christmas decorations are up, the social calendar is rammed and the days are getting colder..☃️

Amongst it all, this week my training took a back seat. Only x2 sessions in the books (and a poor week of nutrition). But hey, it’s Christmas, and I’ve just come off the back of an intense training block and a busy competition calendar; so, I’ll cut myself some slack.😃

But.. I know how I feel when I don’t train, especially when I am particularly busy and the pressure mounts… My physical and mental health is impacted.🤯

So, next week, even with silly season in full swing, and barely a minute to breathe when I look at my work/PT diary, we’re getting back to it!👊🏻

Felt like a complete beginner competing in something new this weekend. Some gear, not much of an idea and no Run/Bike/Run training experience.. I approached it with an open mind and a determination to give it my best effort; and I ended up really enjoying the race! I have a feeling some more races like this will be popping up on the 2026 race calendar…🤭
