This Sunday, I’m taking on my second marathon in less than two months, one for each loss.
I’ll be running the TCS MyWay London Marathon—26.2 miles through South Cambridge—in memory of two very special people we lost last year: Barry Smith and Jean Loraine.
I’ve mapped out a route that visits the places that mean the most to me and the memories I have of them.
The Route:
The Start:
I’ll be starting from home in Haslingfield and heading to Grantchester, Trumpington, Shelford and onto to the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, the incredible organisation I am raising funds for. Where I may take a short pause for some refreshments and fuel.
The Journey:
From the hospice, I’ll be making my way to Foxton via several South Cambs villages. Foxton is where I grew up and where my fondest memories of my mum remain.
The Finish:
From Foxton, I’ll head through more local villages to finish the 26.2 miles in Orwell. Where I will take in a few places/homes of family importance.
My finish line is The Chequers, which was my father-in-law's local. I’ll be celebrating there with an IPA for Barry and a Chardonnay for my mum.
