How can the words ‘world class, 70 year old, female competitive pole vaulter’ go together? They can if you’re Sue Yeomans, seen here creating a new British record for her 70-74yo age group of 2.30m in Derby over the weekend. She was competing in The BMAF British Masters Athletics Federation 2023 National Championships, where she collected gold medals for the long jump (3.34m) & high jump (1.12m) as well as the 🥇🥇🥇Sue holds British pole vault records in all the age groups from 55+ even though she only came to this technically, physically and mentally very demanding discipline in her very late 40s. Her extraordinary all-round athleticism and mental focus are, however, very clear to see. Good luck, Sue, in the in Pescara, Italy, later this month 🤞👏
