LADY CAPTAIN’S DAY AT HARWICH AND DOVERCOURT GOLF CLUB – ‘A ROSE BETWEEN TWO THORNS’

Gentlemen joined Glynis Hutchence, Lady Captain, and the ladies at the Harwich and Dovercourt Golf Club to celebrate Lady Captain’s Day. Pink roses were the theme of the day and nine teams of three, A Rose between Two Thorns, played as a team as well as participating in individual men and ladies’ competitions.

Kate Fender won the Ladies Competition with an amazing 43 points, second was Carol Wrayton with 40 points and third Sue Hayes with 37 points – the three winning ladies were presented with a Princess Alexandra of Kent Rose Bush from the Lady Captain, Glynis Hutchence. The winning team was Carol Wrayton, Rodney Osborne and Ricky Chambers with 95 points. The first placed man was Adrian (Diddy) Gray with 41 points and Mark Gillet came second with 40 points. Nearest the pin went to Kate Fender for the ladies and Tony Sage for the men. Kate also managed to get nearest the wiggly line for the ladies and John Hayes for the men.

Glynis is raising money for St Helena’s Hospice during her Captaincy and the raffle on the day raised £200 for this good cause. A big thank you goes to Glynis for a lovely day which was enjoyed by all that played and those that joined the players for dinner and celebrations after golf.

KATE IS LADIES’ CHAMPION AT HARWICH AND DOVERCOURT GOLF CLUB
Harwich and Dovercourt Ladies took to the fairways on a very hot day to compete in the Ladies’ Championship. After 27 holes Kate Fender came in with a brilliant score of 147 to become Ladies Champion 2026. The Kitty Edmonds Trophy for the 27 hole handicap competition was won by Linda Burrows with a nett 105 and the 18 Hole handicap competition was won by Sue Skinner with a nett 70. Congratulations to all three ladies.
Club President, Sue Hayes presented the trophies followed by a meal where Ladies celebrated with the champions of the day.
