A lovely visit from Harwich Haven Authority 💙

We were pleased to welcome Harwich Haven Authority to The Lighthouse and show them some of the work their Community Fund support is helping us deliver.

We shared more about Teen Time Pathways, which supports young people to build confidence, gain skills, complete training, volunteer and progress towards employment.

Alfie is a great example of that journey. He first came along to our youth clubs, then started volunteering with us, gained experience, training and confidence, and is now working as part of our team. 🙌

We also showed them the Sweet Shack, our social enterprise which forms part of Teen Time Pathways. It gives young people real hands-on experience in areas such as customer service, food preparation, teamwork, money handling and running a small business.

Funding has also helped us provide training and wider pathway opportunities, giving young people practical experiences that can support their next steps.

A huge thank you to Harwich Haven Authority Community Fund for supporting our young people and believing in what we are trying to achieve. 💙

🎉 Youth Club at The Lighthouse – Every Saturday! 🎉

Our weekly Youth Club runs every Saturday, 5:30–7:30pm at The Lighthouse in Harwich. 💙

It’s a relaxed and welcoming space where young people can meet others, build confidence, try new things and spend time with trusted youth workers.

Activities and opportunities can include:

🎾 Tennis & table tennis
⚽ Sports & games
🎨 Arts & crafts
👩‍🍳 Cooking
🚌 Trips and activities
📝 CV workshops & employability support
🙌 Volunteering & leadership opportunities

There’s always a mix of things happening, and we also work with young people around their interests, skills and future goals.

🎉 NEW FREE SPORTSMART COURSE AT THE LIGHTHOUSE! 🎉

We’re really pleased to share that a new 12-week SportSmart course is starting at The Lighthouse Sports & Social Hub for young people aged 13–16.

The programme is designed to support young people through sport and physical activity while helping them build:

* confidence and resilience
* motivation and future goals
* decision-making and problem-solving skills
* positive relationships and peer support
* everyday life skills
* opportunities to gain qualifications and accreditations
* leadership and volunteering experience

It can be particularly helpful for young people who may be experiencing low confidence, poor mental health, school attendance difficulties, anti-social behaviour, vulnerability to exploitation or who are at risk of becoming NEET.

🍬💗 Sweet Shack opening times are changing after the holidays! 💙🍩

Now the summer holidays are over, our young people will be balancing the Sweet Shack around school, college and other commitments, so our opening hours are changing slightly.

This week we’re open:
Wednesday 9th: 4pm–7pm
Friday 11th: 4pm–7pm
Saturday 12th: 12pm–4pm
Sunday 13th: 12pm–4pm

Pop by for sweets, hot doughnuts, slushies, fudge, drinks and more 🍭🍩

The Sweet Shack continues to give young people real work experience through Teen Time Pathways, helping them build confidence, skills and responsibility while running the business.
