Another busy day for the volunteers yesterday. Some more raking of the wild flower meadow and then removal of some overhanging branches :) One of the volunteers even managed to find a discarded tricycle hidden in the long grass.

This coming Sunday sees the return of the monthly craft fair 🍂🍁
Come and browse the lovely stalls and support local artisans

Yesterday morning the volunteers raked the wild flower meadow. This is important after cutting as it removes the nutrient-rich clippings. This reduces soil fertility so wildflowers can thrive over grasses in future years. In the afternoon they did a litter pick in some of the harder to reach areas. As always they did a great job :)

I love this time of year up at Summerhill it looks so beautiful and I love the flavours of autumn as well, so we’ll be bringing back soups from today! And look out for our autumn bakes soon

This Bank Holiday Monday, 31 August, Summerhill Visitor Centre will be open for Daisy & Bea's Café only. Please note that the reception will be closed.

The volunteers have fitted the replacement gate at the back of the boulders today, this afternoon was spent hiding in the woodlands to dodge the heavy showers!

💚 A big shout-out to young Olly and his family for helping make Summerhill cleaner and safer!

🙌 Last month, they joined Summerhill staff and volunteers for a community litter pick, collecting glass bottles, plastic bottles, cigarette ends and even a burnt metal sign.

🦔 Olly was especially keen to protect local wildlife, making sure any creatures found were safely returned to their habitat.

👏 A huge thank you to Olly and all our community litter pickers. Your efforts help keep our communities clean, protect wildlife and reduce fuel for deliberate fires.
