This weekend, my granddaughter Ivy joined her very first dance class at KLSD. 🥹

Over the years, I’ve seen dance bring so much more than steps and routines. I’ve watched children grow in confidence, make lifelong friendships, discover their passions and create memories that stay with them long after they leave the studio.

Knowing all that dance can bring, seeing Ivy take her first dance steps this Saturday felt so special. It’s a lovely reminder that what we have built over the last 30 years at KLSD isn’t just a dance school—it’s a community that continues to grow, support and welcome new generations.

A very special day, one very proud nana and one very excited little dancer who loved exploring every prop in sight. 💫

🌈 KLSD Colour Run 2026 🌈

What a day! 💜

We’re over the moon to share that our Colour Run has raised an incredible £1,076.78 so far towards our October production, with more sponsorship still to come!

A huge thank you to everyone who took part, sponsored our runners, volunteered, and supported the event. Special thanks to The Friends of Karen Liddle for all of their hard work behind the scenes, and to Jonny Murray for kindly providing the venue.

Seeing so many students, families, staff and friends come together made the day such a success.

And best of all, seeing everyone leave absolutely covered in colour! 🌈✨

We are so proud to celebrate two fantastic achievements from our KLSD family! ✨🩰

A huge congratulations to Niamh, who has been awarded a place on Northern Ballet’s Intermediate Associate Programme. This is an incredible opportunity and a reflection of the hard work and dedication she brings to her training every week.

We would also like to congratulate Shelby, who recently auditioned for the Royal Ballet Associate Programme. Shelby has been offered a place on the waiting list and an invitation to join the Royal Ballet’s online programme – both wonderful achievements in what is an extremely competitive audition process.

We are incredibly proud of both girls for putting themselves forward, embracing the audition experience and representing KLSD so beautifully. Opportunities like these are the result of countless hours of commitment, determination and love for dance, and we can’t wait to see what they achieve next.

Well done, Niamh and Shelby – your KLSD family is cheering you on every step of the way! 💜💫

Tonight we had the pleasure of watching Grace perform in her final college show with ndccollege_official 🎭💫

The standard throughout the show was incredible, and it was wonderful to see the talent, versatility and hard work of all the students on stage. A huge credit to the students and staff at NDC for putting together such a fantastic production.

Grace has a smile that lights up the stage, and her passion and love for what she does shines through every time she performs. As she prepares for her next chapter at Emil Dale Academy, it was amazing to sit back and reflect on everything she has achieved over her last two years at college.

Seeing our students celebrate and support each other’s successes is one of the things we value most at KLSD, and the atmosphere afterwards, with so many students who look up to Grace waiting to congratulate her, was really special.

A huge well done to Grace on a fantastic performance, and to all of the students and staff at NDC on a brilliant show. We couldn’t be prouder 💜💫

It doesn’t feel real writing this… your last competition with us this weekend.

You’ve been part of KLSD since you were tiny, and from the very beginning you’ve always done things your own way. We still talk about your first ever comp routine — the little Paddington tap you mostly made up on stage yourself and, of course, won a trophy for — the start of your competition journey.

You quickly made a name for yourself as our resident improviser, never performing the same version twice and always bringing something new but equally special to the stage. Competitions won’t feel the same without your dynamic performances and your beautiful smile lighting up the stage.

Thank you for your years of trust, loyalty, and commitment — it has been an honour to play such a special part in your journey, and we are so proud of the dancer and person you’ve become. And to finish your final competition weekend with a Most Promising Girl of the Festival trophy is such a special full-circle moment ✨

We’re so excited to watch you take your next step at Emil Dale in September… but not before one more special moment with us in our show 💜

This might be your last competition with us, but what amazing memories we’ve made along the way — it has been the most special chapter 💜✨
