GNR Training W4R1 - Run was going well. Fuelled well. Headphones died about 4.5km in and then got heckled some vile abuse about my size by two degenerates. Let it get in my head and cut the run short and walked home. More annoyed I let it get into my head as I had the energy and stamina to finish this tonight. Should have been 8km. Still finishing with a smile. Training goes again tomorrow.

Recovery run tonight after the distance run last night. Felt good. Legs are getting used to it and I’m feeling more comfortable each run. Two shorter runs and one distance each week feels the way to go already after such a short training programme. Let’s do this 🤛

Week 2 Run 3. Rain was pelting. Was not feeling it after work. Aim was to keep sub 8:30/km pace no matter how fatigued I was feeling so I’m really happy with this. Managed it on all but one km with most being around that 8 min mark. Would like to maintain that on race day so will be working on the interval and speed sessions some more. Tried a gel for the first time at about 6km and felt good. Will continue to test these for the half marathon.

Change of scenery and pace.  Know fine well I’ll not get anything this flat in the great north run 😂

Second training run in the bag. Using the app for training. I’m used to just sticking the music in and running till I’m done so hoping this gives me some structure. Voice in my ear telling me I’m going too fast, too slow etc will take some getting used to. 10 weeks to go 👀
