⛔𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗼𝗻 - 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀⛔

🏊A series of road closures will be in place on Sunday (10th August) for Hartlepool’s Big Lime Triathlon.

🚴The event will require road closures from 7-10.30am on Maritime Avenue in the marina and a section of Coronation Drive from Newburn Bridge to Station Lane at Seaton Carew from 7–10.15am. A longer road closure, from 5am-1pm, will be in place from Maritime Avenue up to Victoria Terrace. Signed diversions will be in place.

🏃The event will use parts of the promenade and pedestrians are being asked to follow the advice of volunteer marshals stationed along the route. Dog owners are also asked to keep their pets on leads.

🏊Councillor Gary Allen, Chair of Hartlepool Borough Council’s Adult and Community Based Services Committee, said: “We would like to thank people in advance for their patience and co-operation.

🚴“Townspeople are always very supportive whenever this event is held and we would urge them to help us make it another big success.”

🏃Meanwhile, volunteer marshals are still needed to ensure the smooth-running of the event. People of all ages are welcome, but under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. Anyone who is interested can contact Wild Deer Events on [email protected]

📣𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗹𝗼𝗻🏊🚴🏃

We have joined forces with Wild Deer Events to stage the event on Sunday 10th August and you can get involved as either a competitor or a volunteer marshal.

There is a range of competitive options, including a standard distance triathlon and aqua bike (swim/cycle) event, a sprint distance triathlon and aqua bike event and separate open water swims of 750 metres and 1,500 metres.

The standard triathlon will comprise a 1,500-metre swim, 40km cycle and 10km run, while the sprint triathlon will be made up of a 750-metre swim, 20km cycle and 5km run.

The triathlon events will take place between Hartlepool Marina and Seaton Carew.

Councillor Gary Allen, Chair of the Council’s Adult and Community Based Services Committee, said: “The Big Lime Triathlon is a fantastic event in the way that it brings together seasoned athletes, fun runners and complete beginners - backed by the enthusiastic support of spectators who always create a great atmosphere.

“Don’t delay any longer if you are interested in taking part but haven’t yet entered yet – Tuesday’s deadline is approaching fast!”

The organisers are also still keen to welcome more volunteers to act as marshals to help ensure the smooth-running of the event. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, but under-16s must be accompanied by an adult. They will be placed at strategic points on the course to assist both competitors and spectators. Marshals will be asked to arrive at 6.15am for the start of the event and will be finished by 11.30am.

Councillor Allen added: “The marshals are absolutely key to the success of the Big Lime Triathlon. I would like to thank those volunteers who have already come forward to get involved and I would encourage others to do the same.”

Each volunteer marshal will be entitled to a free entry to a Wild Deer event this year, which can be gifted to a friend or family member, or next year, as well as a piece of Wild Deer merchandise plus a snack and drink on the day.

We still can’t get over how amazing the Big Lime Triathlon 2024 was yesterday!

This is down to the many people involved in the event, and we thought it was time to say a massive thank you!
