Well what a fab session today Ichiban Leeds for the squad session.

Junior National squad session was run by some of our Harrogate students with friends from Garforth Leeds and Collingham. Great numbers turned out from all over including our friends Huddersfield and Bradford Tomiki Aikido Club.

The coaching team and assistants should be incredibly proud of what they did today, it will hopefully inspire others to follow!

Great to have so many of our own students doing their first squad session and just getting involved, a top effort to you all!!

Seniors was run by sensei Paul and he put everyone through their paces whilst passing on his knowledge and experiences.

The meaning behind the Kodokan emblem which our club logo is based upon.

The red circle expresses an iron-core that is fired, and the white outward means the floss silk that wraps the core. The floss silk is pure white and has toughness although it is soft. The more one forges iron, the more it becomes strong.

The symbol expresses the idea that Kodokan members should always have the following spirit: Soft-outward and hard-inward. That is to say, they should have a mighty heart and strengthened physical ability while they behave softly, calmly and rightly to others.

The symbol was made in 1940 improving a symbol that was set by Kano Shihan in the early days of Kodokan. It expresses the spirit of soft-outward and hard-inward. The flower-shaped outward expresses a flower shaped mirror that means trainees should have always Shihan's words in their mind

Another YJH on tour update. A group of us went through to Leeds Aikido this morning and what a fantastic session Sensei Matt put on.
Every pairing/group were working independently on their own goals for either competition or grading. I love to hear that quiet buzz of a room full of people excitedly discussing what they are working on.
