So it's Wednesday, the final day of the 2023 trip, and discussions are already taking place to choose the venue for 2024.
In the meantime there's all to play for as we have moved on to Otley Golf Club, a superb golf course and well on the way home for most, but not all, of the 24.
Again the Society president/chairman/organiser, Mr Garry Thompson, has the honour on the first tee, and he rips his first shot over 250 yards straight down the middle of the fairway.
Now the final group of players have submitted their cards and the daily and overall results can be announced.
Today - Geoff Pickard and Robin Hanson won nearest the pins (Robin for 2 days running).
The 'stella' team of Dave Warrington, Geoff Greaves, Garry Thompson and Brian Greaves won the daily team completion with a remarkable score of 96.
The daily individual Stableford winners - 3rd place Elliot Pickard with 36 points, runner up Andy Groves with 38 and the winner with 40 points Geoff Greaves.
Finally, the overall scores for the 4-day event:
The 'yardage' competition- 3rd Billy Hall with 4039 yards, runner up John Allen with 4583 yards, and the winner Elliot Pickard with 4652.
Par 3 competition with 16 holes to play for - joint 3rd place with 8, Benjamin Greaves and Nicky Thompson. Joint winners with 10, Matthew Benson and Jack Mills.
The Elite Knockout was won by Stephen Thompson who beat Mark Atha in the final.
In then became the Elliot Pickard story as he picked up both the major trophies, winning the Bernard Armitage trophy with victories on the final day in both the semi-final and final, and then also winning the Barrie Powell Memorial trophy with a score of 141, just beating off John Allen who finished just one shot behind on 140.
Well played all!!!
