Nun Monkton Foundation Primary School has enjoyed another successful year of PE and school sport in partnership with Sporting Influence. This term, pupils across Unicorns, Griffins and Phoenix classes have developed their athletics and cricket skills, making excellent progress while demonstrating enthusiasm, resilience and teamwork in every lesson.

Throughout the year, children have proudly represented the school in a range of competitions, including football, dance, "ro-icket", athletics and cricket, showcasing excellent sportsmanship and determination.

The year concluded with a fantastic Sports Day, celebrating the effort, progress and achievements of every pupil. It has been a brilliant year of school sport, with pupils continuing to grow in confidence and enjoyment through PE and competition.

This week we are celebrating our work with Pool Primary School, marking an exciting year for both Pool students and Sporting Influence.

Students have worked hard in lessons with Mr Osburn and their teachers to develop their sporting and social skills. Some year groups took part in swimming lessons throughout the year, while others represented the school in external sporting competitions.

There has been strong participation in after-school sports clubs, with activities including football and athletics. More recently, students enjoyed a competitive and fun-filled Sports Day that everyone involved can be proud of. The Sporting Influence inflatable also made an appearance at the school in the final weeks of term.

Pool Primary also benefited from the SI Foundationโ€™s programmes, including SportABILITY, which focuses on inclusive PE games to build social skills, and our Sport Experiences, which saw students attend a Leeds Rhinos fixture as flag bearers.

Mr Osburn has really enjoyed working with everyone at Pool. A fantastic year for all!

This week, we are celebrating Scotton Lingerfield Primary as our School of the week!

Three classes have been experiencing PE with Mr Sherwood this term on the adjacent Football Field which is a fantastic facility and it enabled the children to experience Athletics and Striking and Fielding games. Staff are continuing to engage in valuable CPD and support the PE delivery across the curriculum.

All classes developed their striking skills. We used cricket bats, rounders bats and tennis rackets in various games such as Risk It and Cone Collect which the children thoroughly enjoyed. We worked on throwing and catching and fielding positions which we demonstrated in our games.

We have also practised our running, jumping and throwing skills in preparation for sports day. The children practised relays and sprints and we looked at throwing techniques using foam javelins and tennis balls. All the children showed great determination and enthusiasm and developed their skills.

The school has been ever present at the SI Competitions too, showing great determination in all events that they have attended.

A big well done to Scotton, a fantastic year of PE, keep up the good work!
