For many itās time to hibernate and fitness can wait until spring or at least a week or two. This year, why not do it differently....... Embrace the cold! Thereās lots of benefits and youāll feel better for it!
šRelease of Happy hormones:
exercising outdoors, especially in winter can really boost your mood. It increases levels of dopamine, the feel good hormone; serotonin, the mood regulating hormone and also increases endorphin levels, which causes that post-exercise rush
š„Burns more calories:
think of a winter time session as a super charged workout! The body will work much harder to keep its core temperature regulated, as the body works to stay warm.
š¦ Improves your immune system:
Regular outdoor exercise will not only help you fight off colds and flu, but also reduce the chance of you being affected. Youād think that it would be the opposite, but regular cold weather training, can cut your risk of flu by 20-30%. (Mayo foundation for medical education and research, US)
ā¤ļøGreat cardiovascular workout:
the cold forces your heart, lungs and body to work harder. An invigorating outdoor workout will help to keep your heart in good health.
Thereās a proverb āthereās no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothingā.
Any type of weather can be endured with the right clothing! Layer up, put on a hat, some gloves and letās get it done!
