According to the weather reports, this week is set to be chilly - with minimum temperatures here in Harpenden being in the minus. 🄶

For many it’s time to hibernate and fitness can wait until spring or at least a week or two. This year, why not do it differently....... Embrace the cold! There’s lots of benefits and you’ll feel better for it!

😊Release of Happy hormones:
exercising outdoors, especially in winter can really boost your mood. It increases levels of dopamine, the feel good hormone; serotonin, the mood regulating hormone and also increases endorphin levels, which causes that post-exercise rush

šŸ”„Burns more calories:
think of a winter time session as a super charged workout! The body will work much harder to keep its core temperature regulated, as the body works to stay warm.

🦠Improves your immune system:
Regular outdoor exercise will not only help you fight off colds and flu, but also reduce the chance of you being affected. You’d think that it would be the opposite, but regular cold weather training, can cut your risk of flu by 20-30%. (Mayo foundation for medical education and research, US)

the cold forces your heart, lungs and body to work harder. An invigorating outdoor workout will help to keep your heart in good health.

Any type of weather can be endured with the right clothing! Layer up, put on a hat, some gloves and let’s get it done!

Hello everyone!

For those that don’t know me, I’m Emily (Em), I’m 43 years old and a mum of 2. I recently qualified as a Level 3 PT with .PFCA and I’m so excited to be launching EmBody fitness. I feel very lucky that I can now call my passion, my job!!

About 5 years ago, I started training in the gym to look and feel better about myself - I’ve never looked back! I’ve learnt a lot along the way and I honestly can’t think of anything more rewarding, then helping others positively change their lives and achieve a happier, healthier existence.

For me, EmBody Fitness is about helping my clients ā€˜embody’ the journey to feel physically and mentally strong, in the healthiest way. I understand the challenges that parenthood, work and a busy life can bring; I truly believe that your goals can be achieved and sustained without the need for drastically low calorie diets and hours of cardio. I can help you find the balance….. life is for living!

I’m currently running small group outdoor training sessions or I can come to your home for 1:1 or 1:2 sessions. An exciting new studio at my home is in the pipeline, so watch this space for more info!

I’m also in the process of setting up my website and I’m hoping it’ll be up and running soon.

If you’re looking for a new way of getting into fitness but not sure where to start, feel free to send me a message or come down to the , (walled garden), on a Thursday at 9:30 for a complimentary outdoor session (throughout January only). You’ll get the opportunity to meet me in person and I can answer any questions you may have. I would love to hear from you.
