I know my stories resonated with a lot of you yesterday so I thought I’d go through the non negotiables I’m doing to get myself back to some normality after a period of disruption to my routine.
Opening the studio has been amazing, but it’s also completely knocked my old routine sideways. Longer days, more responsibility and not much room for winging it anymore. It’s really important to remind myself that I’m not going to be able to go back to what I was doing prior, I’ve got to be realistic with the time I have now.
Now we’ve been open just over a month, I’m starting to find my feet again. I’m not chasing a perfect routine, but by building something that actually fits my new workload and still allows me to feel good. The way I see it is I’m a walking advertisement for the studio, everyone that steps through the door has a busy life, and if they can show up for themselves, then I need to as well.
These are the things I’m focusing on right now:
Training 🏋🏻♀️
I’m keeping it simple and sustainable:
2 strength sessions,
1 conditioning session,
and 1 reformer session each week.
Enough to stay strong, move well and feel like myself, without trying to do everything and being overwhelmed.
Skincare 🧖🏻♀️
Long days show up on your face whether you like it or not. I’m taking my skincare a bit more seriously so I don’t always look as tired as I feel. Not about perfection, just trying to look a little more human by the end of the day.
Water 💧
Three litres a day because everything works better when you’re hydrated. Energy, focus, recovery, skin - all of it.
Food prep 🥘
If you haven’t gathered already I don’t have loads of spare time anymore, so planning meals ahead is what keeps me eating properly instead of grabbing whatever’s easiest.
Sleep 💤
Even though I’m working late and waking up early getting 7 hours sleep minimum is an essential to feeling somewhat human.
If your routine feels a bit off right now, that’s normal, sometimes you just have to rebuild it around the life you’re actually living not the one you lived previously! ✨
