⚽🔥 BALLERS!
One of the games we love using at Basics & Beyond is Ballers — and it’s a great example of how we make learning football skills fun and game-based.
The players start by moving around the area with a ball, dribbling while trying not to bump into each other.
Then we start adding some basic skills:
⚽ Ball Rolls
⚽ Toe Taps
⚽ Step Overs
⚽ V-Touches
And then we take it up another level…
👀 We add a chaser!
The chaser's job is to chase the other players and try to win their ball. Suddenly, those skills they’ve just been practising have a purpose! Players have to keep control, look up, change direction, protect the ball and make decisions under pressure.
That’s what we mean by Learning Through Play. ❤️

After spending the summer at Camp America, two of my sons have finally returned home...

And before they’ve even had time to unpack, they've been put straight back to work! 😂

Great to have them back and even better having them back out on the pitch helping with the sessions.

The players seem happy to see them… I'm just pleased I've got some extra coaching help! 😂🙌

At Basics & Beyond, our sessions are built around helping young players:

⚽ Develop their football skills

😁 Most importantly… have fun!

We don't want players standing in lines waiting for their turn. We want them playing, learning and making decisions while enjoying the game.

🚨⚽ EXCITING NEWS! ⚽🚨
We’re absolutely delighted to announce that Basics & Beyond Football Coaching will be working in partnership with Risden Wood Youth💙⚽

This is a really exciting step for us as it creates new pathways for young players to continue their football journey, develop their skills and progress within grassroots football.

A big part of our partnership will be working with Risden Wood Wildcats Girls Football 💜⚽

We’re passionate about helping more girls get involved in football, build confidence and develop their love for the game. This partnership gives us another fantastic opportunity to support girls from their early football experiences through to playing within a team environment.

We can't wait to get started, work alongside the Risden Wood Youth coaches and support their players both on and off the pitch.

A huge thank you to Risden Wood Youth for putting their trust in Basics & Beyond. We’re really excited about what we can build together! 🙌

It's been a brilliant week for us, with 3 trialists all choosing to register and continue their football journey with us! 🙌⚽

It's fantastic to see new players coming through the door, enjoying the sessions and wanting to keep developing with us.

🌑⚽ We've also had an Eclipse Training Special! 🌑⚽

Not that i can take credit for the eclipse, but it was cool.

A massive thank you to all the parents and players who continue to support Basics & Beyond Football Coaching.
