WHAT. A. DAY

Firstly, a massive thank you to everyone who came and supported the Hardwick Party on Saturday. Thank you to the Hardwick Parish Council and the Hills Developers for their generosity in making the event happen financially. And thank you to all the village organisations, businesses who took part in the event in one way or another - it would not have been the same without you! Full credit and thanks to all participants at the event and donors of raffle prizes will appear in the next issue of the Hardwick Happenings.

Today’s the day… Just a few hours until we get the Hardwick Party underway, so here’s one of the more important notices this week…

COVID-19 - COViD is still a threat so we’ve just done a few simple but effective things to make the event as safe as possible.

1. Space - we’ve laid the site out to maximise outdoor space, so there is plenty of space to enjoy the event without feeling like you’re jammed in with people. Please just be mindful of each others views on space and closeness.

2. Ventilation - any indoor space at the event (bar, marquees, scout hut) will have doors open to allow as much ventilation as possible. We’re not mandating masks at the event but please feel free to wear one wherever you’d like to.

3. Sanitiser - there will be sanitiser dotted around at various places throughout the site including at the bar and the kids area. Please feel free to make use of it.

4. Not feeling great? - if you have COViD symptoms please don’t attend the event and book yourself a PCR test.

FOOD & DRINK - At the Hardwick Party there are loads of options of what to eat and drink!

BARBECUE - the Hardwick Scouts will be running a barbecue throughout the day - just outside the scout hut.

CREAM TEAS - from 2pm - 4pm the W.I will be selling cream teas from the scout hut.

FOOD TRADERS - we’ve got some great food vans joining the event - including Turkish cuisine, kebabs, fish and chips, ice cream and wood fired pizza - to PRE ORDER pizza - visit the La B**a website https://www.labiga.co.uk/ scour the menu and write “Hardwick Party” as the reference.

ALL DAY BAR - the Hardwick Sports and Social Club have got an all day bar, gin and fizz stand and craft beer stand open throughout the day.

DONUTS - Visit the Kids area and grab one, two or a whole box of Krispy Kreme donuts.

Everyone welcome - 12pm - 10pm tomorrow.

Reminder for all entrants to the cookery, craft and produce show, please have your entries down at the Rec, in the marquee opposite the skate park between 9am and 9:50am. Judging starts at 10am so have your entries in on time!

It's great to be partnering with the Hardwick Sports and Social Club who will be providing all the bars throughout the day at the Hardwick Party. There'll be the usual draught beers, lagers, wines and spirits inside as well as a craft ale and cider stall and a gin and fizz van outside. Be sure to come and check it out!

Coming with your kids to the Hardwick Party? Then we have you covered. From inflatables to snacks and drinks, ride-on-toy track to raffles, fancy dress competitions to coconut shies and loads more. Organised and run by Hardwick PTA and Hardwick Pre-school. All money raised from these activities goes back to supporting the PTA and Pre-school.

As part of the Hardwick Party we have dozens of local businesses and organisations coming to advertise or sell some of their stuff in our Market Street. One of these is Inga and her stand selling wooden discs that you can design and make into gifts for family and friends. All money collected from this stand goes towards supporting the Hardwick Preschool.

ARTIST ANNOUNCEMENT - Joining us from 2pm -3pm on the Bandstand at the Hardwick Party will be the Huntingdon Big Band. A swing band in the style of the Glenn Miller Big Band, we're delighted to say they'll be keeping our feet tapping throughout the afternoon at the Hardwick Party.
