The Belvoir Challenge is a a 15 or 26 mile event for walkers and runners around the Vale of Belvoir and Belvoir Escarpment in north-east Leicestershire. Famed for its cake filled checkpoints and muddy terrain, all profits are used to support the pupils of Harby Primary School.

As parents, we're usually skilled at withstanding emotional torture and prolonged whinging, but we've finally had enough.

So.....next year's event will take place in August. Out with the mud, wind and rain. In with nettles, grass rash and bovine obstacles. We'll only serve port on checkpoints and we're looking into sourcing appropriate merchandise - beaver branded budgie smugglers and anti histamines.

We shall call it Burning Belvoir.
