It sounds simple and a little bit silly, but the language we use with ourself can hugely impact our perception of our current actions as well as impact future behaviours.
A lot of the time in the studio we hear phrases like “I’ve been so good today” or “I’ve been so bad today” or “I know it’s naughty but…” It doesn’t sound like a lot, but these phrases can contribute to a faulty belief system.
There is NO morality with eating behaviours (outside of cannibalism 😵) and we should use language to support this.
We all have individual goals and our actions/behaviours will either contribute moving towards our goals, away from them or remain neutral.
Keeping our language neutral and objective can help remove some of the emotional attachment potentially limiting our long term effectiveness (especially if you are an all or nothing eater/drinker).
Give it a try. Catch yourself with your language, make a little swap and let us know if it has an impact.
Have a great Bank Holiday
