It sounds simple and a little bit silly, but the language we use with ourself can hugely impact our perception of our current actions as well as impact future behaviours.

A lot of the time in the studio we hear phrases like “I’ve been so good today” or “I’ve been so bad today” or “I know it’s naughty but…” It doesn’t sound like a lot, but these phrases can contribute to a faulty belief system.

There is NO morality with eating behaviours (outside of cannibalism 😵) and we should use language to support this.

We all have individual goals and our actions/behaviours will either contribute moving towards our goals, away from them or remain neutral.

Keeping our language neutral and objective can help remove some of the emotional attachment potentially limiting our long term effectiveness (especially if you are an all or nothing eater/drinker).

Give it a try. Catch yourself with your language, make a little swap and let us know if it has an impact.

Have a great Bank Holiday

How do we train beginners & experienced gym goers in the same session?

If our new members didn’t progress; then we wouldn’t be doing our job right 😅

On the surface this is the same plan. The movement patterns are all exactly the same.

What’s different is the exercise selection, load, rep ranges, rest periods & all manor of variables we can manipulate.

As humans you only have so many movement patterns you can work through. On this example: lunge, push, row, hinge & cardio. But then there is a whole spectrum of exercises within those movement patterns.

So whether we have someone in front of us who has never stepped foot in a gym or someone who has been training for years. We can meet you where you are at and challenge you both equally, in the same session.

This style also benefits both ends of the training lifespan!

As a beginner you will see an aspirational goal of where you can get to & receive the coaching & support you need. As a more advanced lifter you can be challenged whilst being reminded of the fundamentals of each exercise to constantly challenge your technique.

We don’t care where someone’s start point is in the gym. We only care that we can help you, you’ll enjoy the environment & you’re going to have positive impact on others around you.

We then all gain the benefit of a social & supportive environment. Win. Win. Win! 🥇

Do you skip your warm ups?

We bet you’re not the only one; but it does mean you’re not getting the most from your workouts!

So it might feel like you’re saving time by jumping straight into your workout.

But you’re not only increasing your risk of injury.

You’re also leaving big performance gains on the table!

It’s why all of our sessions start with a proper warm up.

Working through mobility, power, core & activation specific to our members workout.

It gives all of our members the best possible start to their workout.

So not only are they safe, reducing their risk of injury & ready to start training, they’re being super time efficient with their training too.

We recently hosted a health & fitness Q&A session at the Oaty Goat, Whiteley.

We received some great questions & had some awesome conversations. Many of the questions are ones that come up really frequently in our job. So we’ve spent a bit of time answering all in a bit more detail.

This has also sparked the return of the Peak podcast!

Coming soon with guest interviews from some of our members & friends in the industry. Expect more than just fitness!
