Over the passed couple weeks there seems to have been a lot of shade thrown at certain “styles” of training 😅

I’d say the majority of it is done in jest and is just a bit of banter - but a few of the post seem a bit deeper than that 😂

Either way don’t let someone’s opinion on Instagram if different ways of training stop you from trying them if you think you’d enjoy it!

So if you fancy trying CrossFit, bodybuilding, hyrox etc then just go for it!

🏃‍♂️ 🚴‍♂️ 🏋️‍♂️

At the end of the day we all train for enjoyment so if that’s what you enjoy - and are able to do so - then do it!

Been lacking quite a bit recently in terms of social media but also with a lot of other things - a big one being my training 😅

So I’m basically putting this out there to get myself back to training consistently!

One of the main reasons my trainings been lacking is because of just a lack of motivation/discipline due to not having any sort of physical goals

Here’s a throwback to initial fat loss phase when she started working with me 🔥

Cat was and still is a great client of mines who has had to deal with a massive injury which she is now fully recovered from 🦵

And just looking at what we achieved before gets me excited to what we can achieve together in the future with now that Cat has the knowledge and experience of what we done before that definitely means we can push passed those previous results to reveal a whole new Cat! 💪🏼

At the start of every year I sit down and write down some things I’d like to achieve

Some of these are just small personal goals and some of them are huge goals that feel unattainable at times!

I think it’s good to set goals that can seem a bit far fetched as if you try to get there and fail - you’ll still be closer than you would’ve been if you hadn’t even tried!

Shoot for the moon and you mind land among the stars and all that! 🌟

Everyone meet my client Louise 👏

Louise is pretty experienced in the gym but came to me looking for some guidance with her nutrition and how to fit everything in around her busy life!

I think it’s fair to say Louise has smashed it and is 8kg down in around 22 weeks which has been up and down at times but the progressions that have been made both physically and mentally have been amazing!

We’re now currently transitioning in to a reverse dieting phase as Louise feels she has gain the knowledge and know how to continue on her own!

People might read that and say - why is he celebrating a client leaving?

Well because we achieved the goal that we set and I can’t wait to see Louise continue on this path and continue to smash every aspect of her life!

Today I want to talk a bit about exercise intensity

I see so many people around the gym training with barely any intensity 🤦🏻

Not pushing themselves and just doing the things they find easy, just picking a comfortable weight that they can smash out 3 sets of 10 reps of and barely even break sweat!

Now all of my clients would tell you, from the get go I tell them that we will be training as close to failure as we can!
(As long as it’s safe to do so)

Why do I have them train this way?

Because that’s what’s going to help us reach our goals, keeping that training intensity high and pushing ourselves to our absolute limits!

Now you can stay training with little to no intensity and do whatever you find easy and not get the results you want

Or you can ramp up that intensity and start pushing yourself every training session and smash those goals that seem so far away!

So I thought I’d do a little run down of my prep for the photoshoot I done since I’ve posted a couple of the pictures! 📸

At the beginning of the year I set myself a goal of doing a photoshoot and getting in to the best shape I’ve ever been in for it!

So first task was to hire a coach as going through any sort of dieting phase is hard enough never mind doing it without someone who will keep you accountable and give you an extra push!

So I enlisted the help of and we got started

In total the prep was 22 weeks and the position I started in was far from ideal 😅

I had let life get the better of me and wasn’t doing anything right training or nutrition wise!

So we sorted things out and for the most part I stuck exactly to the plan even when on holiday (which was a worry due to previous experiences 😂)

Overall my experience was a pretty positive one and was enjoyable for the most part except for maybe having to do 70 mins of cardio everyday 🫠

I achieved what I wanted but to be completely honest I wouldn’t say I was 100% satisfied with myself and how I looked at the end!

This is probably down to how bad my starting position was as me and Ross done everything possible to get me in the best shape I could be in the timeframe I set!

So who knows maybe I’ll do another one in the future to try and beat how I looked this time 👀

Something that I hear allllll the time is that when you work in the fitness industry everything fitness/health related is “easy” for you

Planning out all your meals and calories for the week is “easy”

Getting your steps in everyday is “easy”

Doing all your training sessions is “easy”

Finding time to balance your work life schedule is “easy”

Well I’m sorry to break it to you but if all this is easy for us, then it’s easy for you too!

We also have to plan everything around our work schedule which for PT’s it can see us out all morning, home for a bit in the afternoon (probably doing computer work) and then back out for night clients and not home till 9/10pm

Now don’t take this as a big moan about my job because it’s really not and I love what I do!

It’s more of a if I can do it then so can you kind of post!

Everything comes down to planning 📅

I can guarantee you, if you look at your schedule there will be gaps in places where you’re just being downright lazy

So if you think you don’t have the time to do the simple things that we need to do to reach our goals then you need to re-evaluate where and what your time goes in to!

Recently my motivation to train has been at an all time low 🫠

Which as a person who loves to train - isn’t good for the mind 😂

Why has this happened?

There are plenty of reasons like coming off the back of the photoshoot enjoying training wasn’t the main focus - just getting through the session was the focus!

And now with me not having a goal set or even any structure around my training my motivation to train is well and truly in the bin 🗑️

BUT

The only person who can change this is me so this post is my reminder to get back to what I love and have a bit of structure to help me get back to wanting to train!

HOW

By creating a program I enjoy and planning my week to fit in all my workouts - once they are in the diary then they need to be ticked off or it keeps me awake at night 😂

David’s main goal when he came to me was to gain some lean muscle and I’d say we achieved that over the 8 week block!

And honestly David was the perfect client never missing a beat with training or nutrition and it showed in his results!

Do your daily actions align with your goals?

If your answer is yes, then great keep it going and you’ll get there!

If your answer is no, then you need to either reassess your goals or start to change your daily actions in a way that pushes you forward!

An example of this could be you’re goal is to lose some body fat but you have no idea how many calories your consuming because tracking is “a hassle” 🙄

Changing your outlook and making tracking your calories one of your daily non negotiable tasks will help you reach that goal!
