Dechmont ARPC

On Sunday DARPC held its 4th and, last of the season, Benchrest league shoot.

This comp was based on the world rules with exception to r***e weight and minor differences to stock configuration.

It was an exceptionally bright day with low but changeable wind condition and very cold 🥶

Your top three for the season

Rob Robertson 1954 61X
Tommy Gallagher 1905 44X
Iain Vance 1901 34X

AND your top 4 for the day

Rob Robertson 494 16X
Michael Burke 489 16X
Iain Vance 484 9X
Tommy Gallagher 483 16X

DARPC are planning 5 of these events next year.

It will be a open competition. If you are a member of another club you are more than welcome to join in.

Stay tune as there will be a lot of local social pages advertising regarding all things benchrest and our own Stephen Thomas Donegan will be producing a website with future events and educational material.

For the 3 years running DARPC has taken home the highly desirable BR TEAM EVENT trophy.

Our last comp was on Bedlay's grounds. It was a breezy Oct 11th Sunday. No rain and the wind was behaving with fairly consistent directions

However, the score are starting to get tight.

Sunday's final match had Bedlay at 1212 with 36 X's and DARPC with 1218 36X's

Is it the shooters? Is it the equipment? Is it the shooters ability to max out their equipment for the highest possible scores? Is it luck?

These are the BR questions that can be debated for many months to come.

Total points for the season DARPC "7096" with 195 X's
Bedlay "7035 with 154 X's

Your top 3

Ian O Bedlay 249 12X
Scott W DARPC 247 11X
Rob R DARPC 245 9 X

Next season hopes to see North Ayrshire shooting club in the mix.

Does your club have 5 BR shooters and would they like to be part of the fun.

Drop me a PM and we can set up a met to discuss.

The club is building a 5th Benchrest position.

This will allow for 25 BR competitors to compete during a afternoon. Before it was 20 max.

We will have this completed very soon and the new league matches start next year.

4 matches in a season open to all shooters with a P*P air r***e.

We follow the World BR rules with exception on the R***e Stock regarding weight and certain measurements.

If you are interested in competing next year please PM me.

On Sunday the 27th Dechmont hosted the penultimate round of the BR team event between DARPC vs Bedlay.

It was a terrible day with wind blowing around 11 MPH and changing direction from Right to Left and then straight into the shooters faces. Their was so much rain I was thinking "Wonder if there is a joiner build a ship and collecting animals 2 by 2."

Dechmont won by the narrowest of margins

DARPC 1185 27X
Bedlay 1172 24X

The overall point situation is

DARPC 5878 159 X
Bedlay 5823 118X

Your Top 3

Slawek Bedlay club 244 8X
Rob DARPC club 244 5X
Scott DARPC club 240 3X

Take a look at the picture. Is that a 5th BR position at DARPC ???

On Sunday pass we held a Charity Shoot for our fallen members Sinbad and John.
The club raised £952.00 for Erskine Veterans.
We had a couple of different comps
1) out and indoor Benchrest Event were only the "X's" counted
2) A shorten HFT course were members could try there hand using sticks and the more traditional way of shooting HFT.

The Benchrest outdoor was won by
Scott Hamilton form Bedlay with 7X's
and
The indoor was won by
Rob from DARPC with 12X'S

Fortunately there was no rain but the wind was reported at 17mph making hitting X's outdoors and In very difficult.

The important part was remembering our members and giving back to those who help the Vets

As a reminder our Charity open shoot is this Sunday. The club will be doubling all donations to Erskine Veterans.
