We are a shared-ownership syndicate that races a high-speck MAT 12 Mark Mills yacht. We race against big boys both inshore and offshore and one of three things happen:
1. We win - happens often enough and makes us happy
2. We show a decent result and try harder next time
3. We have great fun. Actually we always have great fun, but a list of 3 looks more professional. Night Owl II yacht leads a pa
mpered lifestyle and is always professionally maintained, 'dry- sailed' (not kept in the water), and the running and standing rigging are promptly replaced (last time in 2014/2015). She is kept ready to race and all the equipment is updated and serviced throughout the season. Night Owl 2 is our boat, not a school boat or charter boat, and she gets all the attention you would expect if you owned your own boat. Sometimes more because she a lot of owners who love her. Being a racy girl Night Owl II has a proper wardrobe of inshore and offshore mainsails, 4 Genoas, 4 Spinnakers, a Jib Top, a Spinnaker Stay Sail and Storm Sails if required. We replace all the sails regularly and work with our sail-maker to get the best from the wardrobe. We mostly sail in IRC 0 or 1 on a new 2017 rating of 1.124
