Your body’s working overtime to cool you down, so don’t panic if your pace drops.

You’re not unfit, it’s just hotter.

• Add electrolytes
• Run early or later in the evening
• Adjust the session if needed
• Maybe even use heart rate and perceived exertion over pace

Life is hard.

Just been out on my run and thought to myself flipping hell.

Some of the stuff that goes through your head when you’re out there.

One thing I know for certain though.

Running takes it away. Every single time.

If you’re struggling and just want some structure give me a shout.

I do it for people all day. If you just want to chuck the watch away and run easy no problem whatsoever.

Make your bed in the morning.

Put your kit by the front door.

Just go and do it.

Now most of the spring marathons are over. It’s time to start thinking about that autumn marathon.

What’s the first thing that hits the floor when you run?

Your feet. And most runners never look after them.
I’m no physiotherapist but common sense prevails here.

Give them a good old wiggle. Grab them. Fingers between the toes. Move them around. Bend them. Stretch them. Pull them towards you.

Really simple. Thirty seconds.

Look after your feet first.

Wait for it.

There’s a lot to be said for going out on a run with no technology at all.

Yes it’ll mess with your stats a little bit.

But do you know what the anxiety of trying to hit numbers does to your running?

Sometimes just go and run. Nice and easy.

Just smashed 120km on the bike and some of them are still in their pit.

Don’t wish the time away though. Very cool having teenagers.

Anyway. Post ride stretching. I get asked this all the time.

What do you do after a long bike ride?

This is it. Three moves. Hip flexor. Hamstring. Glute with a bit of spine rotation.

Don’t force it. Make it a 3 out of 10 and spend as long as you want on it.
