Worlds 2024
It's been a couple of weeks since the Worlds in L'Escala Spain and now the boat is back in the UK we thought we should do a wrap up post from the event. A great couple of training days with new techniques and learning the conditions were definitely useful going into the racing.
Day 1 was a great day for us, with plans being executed and speed delivered. We did have a small breakage but nothing the team couldn't handle and ensured this didn't affect our results. Ended the day with an 11,1,13 with everyone struggling for consistency this left us happy and delighted to have taken victory in our first world championship race after a couple of seconds over previous editions
Day 2 there was a lot of waiting around after forecasts suggested a breeze developing in the afternoon and although this did it also built rapidly so no races completed.
Day 3 again some more waiting but this time the breeze filled in and was steady in direction. At the higher end of the range this provided exciting racing but also a large awkward swell to make driving a real challenge. Results were down from our previous with an 18,20,21 we knew this put the pressure on going into the last day.
Day 4 a very similar breeze and direction but easier swell made life easier. This time we were able to improve as the day went on with a 13,12,11.
Overall this left us in 13th overall again which we were pleased with but just missing our top 10 aim so still more to achieve but a great week on and off the water with a great sailors dinner with karaoke which we were able to perform our amazing skills to the international crowd. See you all next year!!
