Been a busy few weeks, Dhream cup in France on board Purple Mist a Sunfast 3200, followed immediately by racing in Cowes week on my favorite 1/4 tonner Theseus.
Slight change of tack as today I fly out to join Patea, a 90' superyacht as first mate.

Great fun last weekend with a fun bunch on Phosphorus 2 at the North Sea race. 2nd in class and 11th overall.

That's all for now folks!
Been a long few months in the Caribbean but all good things must come to an end. Flying back to sunny UK today but reflecting on a busy season that started with a bang and ended on a high.
Lovely to have sailed with so many friends on ZigZag at the superyacht challenge to close out my Caribbean season.

We have unfortunately had to retire from the RORC Transat. At roughly 0330 UK time we heard two loud bangs from the back of the boat followed by a loss of steerage.
We discovered that we had snapped our portside rudder stock. Our rudder eventually fell away from the boat.

We are sailing downwind and still have some level of steerage from our starboard rudder provided we doont heel over too much.

All 9 on board are okay and unharmed and we are making best course for Antigua.

Hugely disappointed to have to retire from the race with such major failure, but very happy that all on board are okay and the boat is safe.

Some light tricky airs over night as the big high pressure squeezes down on us, but out the other side (for now) and sailing in good pressure.
Pushing hard south still towards the Cape Verdes.

Good first couple of days in light airs trying to navigate our way through some tricky transitions.
