A few words and a video as Rob continues caulking Lutine, an elegant classic yacht built in the early fifties.

It is amazing how quickly you can cut out the seam compound and make a even tapered groove to glue tapered splines

Shared a dinner with Diego Colon, Director of Astilleros d'Mallorca, renewing a friendship going back over thirty years. Just a bit scary how we both dressed.
Louise and I were celebrating our twenty five year Anniversary

Just spent three glorious weeks working with Beashels yard in Pitt Water helping finish the beautiful yacht Defiance designed as an 8 meter by Ernest Digby. Many thanks to Colin, Kay and the boys for all their hard work.

Whilst I was away racing in the Cowes Classic Panerai Regatta, gaining an unexpected 2nd in class 3 to Mikado (a Linear 30' from Fife, circa 1907) another 2 Fife yachts have appeared, one in Australia and one in Italy. That's 4 new ones so far this year: a 9 meter, a 7 meter a 6 meter and a 32ft LOD gaff cutter.

Finally 25 years late I am starting a Register of existing fife yachts.
Perhaps any one who thinks he knows of one hidden away could let me know - I think there is an 8 meter
in the San Francisco area ?

From joining the yard in 1889 to his death in 1940s W. Fife Jr designed around 508 yachts, building the vast majority of these in the Fairlie yard.
you think that after 25 years working with his yachts I would know how many are still in existence - no chance - this year two have been brought to my attention one in Ireland and one in Norway,
So I am off to Norway in the morning to visit a 6Metre.
My current best guess is that there are over 300 left in existence
