Do you want to become a Dinghy Instructor and feel you have the ability to teach and instruct - but think you may need support to undertake elements of the role and would benefit from a course adapted to your needs? If yes, or you know someone who you think would make a great instructor then we have a great opportunity coming up we want to tell you about!

In August we will be running an accessible Dinghy Instructor course at Spinnaker Sailing Club (just outside Ringwood, Hampshire) with the support of New Forest Sailability using a range of craft such as Hansa 303s, Laser Stratos Keelboats and RS Zests. Candidates will go through the full RYA Dinghy Instructor training course, with personalised adaptations made to support individuals to achieve their full potential as instructors! Where adaptations or support are needed these will be recorded in an RYA Instructor Support Statement (see more about these in the linked video below).

To support individual candidates a programme of training and support has been planned leading up to the instructor course itself.

Pre-Entry Sailing Assessment - 14th August
Instructor Course - 24th to 28th August

Sunsail’s Funding the Future is back for 2026!

Could your club be eligible for up to £6,000 of funding?

Aimed at RYA-affiliated sailing, yacht clubs, charities and university teams across the UK, Sunsail's Funding the Future initiative offers the opportunity to secure up to £6,000 of funding to invest in facilities, equipment, and innovative programmes designed to grow participation in sailing at grassroots level.

In addition to the top prize, Sunsail will also award £2,000 to two runners-up.

⛵️Today 10 volunteers and instructors are taking part in our regional 1-Day Hoist Competency Course!⛵️

With expert tuition from Sarah this morning was spent in the classroom looking at some of the regulations around lifting equipment and the administration behind lifting equipment. This afternoon the team are on the pontoon getting some hands on experience using equipment kindly loaned by New Forest Sailability

This fantastic opportunity will give these individuals greater skills and knowledge to take back to their home organisations to support enabling more people to enjoy getting on the water!
