Lane in 1880. In 1920 the ground was bought from Bentleys Yorkshire Brewery at cost of £200. At the invitation of Roy Smith (Club President at that time) the captain of Yorkshire, John Hampshire, helped the Club celebrate its centenary in 1980. The club has also celebrated it's 125th anniversary of Copley Cricket Club in 2005. We have 3 league senior teams (two play on Saturday and one on Sunday) in the sections of their respective leagues. We are particularly proud of our thriving junior section. We are a member of the Halifax Junior Cricket League and run teams in the U9's, U11's, U13's, U15's and U18's age categories and fully embrace the ECB's All Stars initiative for 4 to 7 year olds. We also have a Women and Girls team which play in the Calderdale softball league. In addition to a magnificent pavilion built in 2012, the Club enjoys an excellent site for playing and watching cricket in an extremely picturesque setting. There are good quality seats surrounding the playing surface which makes the ground ideal for the staging of "cricket festivals" and "major games." For many years Copley has staged major cup finals and we have hosted the Parish Cup Final on a number of occasions, most recently in 2023

On Saturday away at Ludd-Foot Olly Brooks recorded his career best figures of 6 wickets for 9 runs in a truly remarkable spell of bowling. Not forgetting his 56* not out too, a day to remember.

Down at the Arches, Copley entertained Upper Hopton in the Parish Cup R2. Copley batted first and, after losing three quick wickets, Will Rushton 106 and Matthew Rowles 83 set about posting a score. With a 4th-wicket partnership of 151, they did just that, ending up on 253/6 and on a high going into the second innings.

During the second innings, some fine bowling by Olly Thorpe 5-31 and Inshal Dar 4-33 saw Upper Hopton bowled out for 222.

Copley now enter the final 8 of the Cup, and the draw will take place tomorrow night.

Teams for another action packed weekend with four games taking place.

The first team look to keep the momentum going against high flying SBCI and Upper Hopton in R2 of the Parish Cup.

The second team look to get their first win of the season at Upper Hopton and the Sunday's away at Warley and Elland against Lightcliffe, with a youthful side with two debutants looking to keep the momentum going leading into cup Semi Final.
