Meet the squad, part 3 - Vice Captain, Martin Bishop
Nickname? – Bish – Billy Brewer - Moonhead
Why you support Halifax? – Ive been asking myself for a long time but its my home town and my team.
How you got involved with AFC Halifax? - When Matthew Blackburn and “Demonite” first muted the idea on theshaymen . net to raise a team against Kidderminster I posted I wished to play but for some reason it got lost in the messages but carried on looking out and eventually got my name down in the end.
First AFC game? – Falcon Pine – February 2007, Was meant to start on the bench but gaffer John Barker “pulled” his back the night before the dirty dog so I got the chance to start and from then on never looked back – Had the pleasure of marking a certain Adam Probets – We lost 3-2
First Halifax town game? - 13/09/1997 Halifax Town 4-1 Droylsden (FAC)
Favourite AFC Halifax game? – Beating Motherwell on penalties in the cup a highlight (I actually scored a penalty for a change) - , the Watford game in 2011 another game where we absolutely played them off the park and everything went right – Winning back the Tommy Gildert cup against Leeds was a fantastic day which ended up with the entire team in Jumpin Jaks and David Thompson trying to find some hair straighteners.
Favourite Halifax Town game? - Southport 4-3 game in 97/98 season – Wembley obviously in 2016 – Notts County this season also will live long in the memory.
Funniest AFC moment? - Cant narrow it down to one.
-Owen Coyle at Butlins.
-Coventry player trying to wipe out Matty G and completely missing.
-Chadders Elvis stitch up.
-Adam Probets and Luders having a fight over some chilli and a T Shirt.
-Peaks stand-up routine at The Shay for the 10 year dinner (not sure if we were laughing with or at (sorry peaks) ).
-Having our names printed on the programme at Newcastle Blue Star.
-Wiggy trying to pick up his hat at Rochdale instead of the ball.
-Driving 4 hours to play Gray’s supporters team and conceding after 17 seconds.
-Chris Wilder giving Ratty the evil eye after he won the pass the parcel at the Exeter game in 2007 winning £60 in his lovely yellow poncho
-Bobbins stealing Dave Thompsons bleep test CD and swopping it for S Club or steps I think it was.
-Johnny Maynell in a chip shop (enough said)
-Rambo’s lip injury – It was touch and go at one stage if he was going to make it.
-Bobbins melt down over a coffee at Butlins
-Bobbins melt down because the lads all went to Pizza Hut after a game and he doesn’t like cheese.
Favourite Halifax Player? - Old club – Horsfield or Thackeray - New Club – Scott Phelan or Lee Gregory
Best AFC Trainer? - In my all years at AFC and now being an aging veteran legend id say the best trainer was Dave Thompson by a country mile, demanded high training standards which coincidentally ran alongside one of our most successful periods.
Worst AFC Trainer? - Rambo and myself – we just hated anything that involves running, planks, sit ups – just give us a ball to stick in the net.
Most Skillful? – Fat Probets not too bad with the ball at his feet, just don’t ask him to run more than 5 yards to get it.
Biggest Moaner? - Adam Probets or Nathan Wright (Christ they are 2 miserable b*stards)
Thickest? – Wiggy had a lift that didn’t always go to the top floor, sandwich short of a picnic that lad
Fastest? - Ian Beale Meal Deal not bad over a 25 yard sprint
Toughest? - I think over the years myself, Rambo, Bobbins and Ratty got into enough scrapes over the years with the opposition – Rambo always gives as good as he gets if I had to pick one.
Worst Dress Sense? - That didn’t take any thinking about what’s so ever - Harry
Worst Music Taste? - Martin Probets – hes listens to some right sh*te – Give me some Fleetwood Mac or Billy Joel anyday before a game to get pumped up.
Club Clown? - Adrian Hollands - not through deliberate acts of humour, he just has to act normally.
Longest in the Shower? – Kev Dawson always been partial to a long soak after the game
